Nice Vegan Menu

This place is inside a mini-mall on Ibn Gabirol Street. We sat inside and it was pleasant, and you could forget that you were in a mini-mall. On the plus side, it was a good escape from the broiling Israeli sun outside.

The entire chain of Cafe Joe restaurants now has a separate vegan menu. Many of the branches are kosher, as this one is. (If you read Hebrew, you can check the Cafe Joe website to see which branches are kosher.) There are a few good options in each category.

My friend and I decided to share the large vegan breakfast and the California salad. The breakfast is similar to many vegan breakfasts in town in that it includes a "vegan omelet" made of chickpea flour, bread, spreads, salad, juice and coffee. This well-made breakfast was a cut above the standard and even came with a nice fruit salad. The California salad was huge and included apples and cubes of a wonderful vegan cheese only available in Cafe Joe.

Another thing I liked is that they were willing to give me iced coffee instead of hot coffee and they didn't charge extra for that, which most places do. It was made with soy milk.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Great vegan cheese
