Great vibes - Edit
The best part about this place is the vibe in the backyard style terrace. They have some vegan options and some things you can modify. It's a great spot to chill but sometimes it can be busy. I highly recommend sitting in the back, outside.

Huge sandwiches, great ambiance - Edit
This indoor/outdoor bistro serves both vegan and non vegan fare (mostly soup and sandwiches). The atmosphere is cozy - I definitely recommend sitting in the patio garden if the weather is nice. We had the Chaucer (tofu) sandwich (5/5⭐️), the CBLT with veganaise (5/5⭐️), the mac and cheese (2.5/5⭐️, too much turmeric which overwhelmed the flavor), and the iced chai (5/5⭐️). The sandwiches are huge and filling, making it a good value for their price point.

Incroyable! - Edit

Amazing mac&cheese 😩 - Edit

best sandwich bread in the city - Edit
Lots of vegan options and cozy outdoor seating. The Parc Avenue sandwich was delicious. My only minor comment would be that the side salad dressing was bland. Looking forward to trying the chili next time.

Beautiful - Edit
This place is beautiful! If the weather is nice, I recommend eating outside. They don't have too many vegan options, but their vegan sandwiches are amazing. The BLT with coconut bacon is to die for (ask for vegan mayo!). I just wish they went vegan.

It’s a great place to lunch if you’re going to Mont Royal; cheap (around 10-12 for a huge sandwich and a salad), tasty and great quality!

Lovely place near Mont-Royal - Edit
It’s the perfect place to grab a healthy snack after doing sport at Jeanne-Mance park or Mont-Royal as it’s only a few steps away. They have a huge private patio in the back that is really cute. The portions are good and the prices are cheap. I give 3 stars, because it’s really the kind of food that is great, but also not really original and easy to make at home.

Magical terrace - Edit
Café Santropol is the cutest restaurant ever! Located near Jeanne-Mance Park, it has a magical open-air terrace with fairy lights, eccentric statues, greenery, and a pond. I love the down-to-earth bohemian vibe.
Read moreSantropol has a menu page dedicated to vegan & vegetarian sandwiches. I ordered the Parc Avenue sandwich (tempeh marinated in lime, chili, and cilantro, avocado smash, and tomatoes) which came in the thickest, heartiest brown bread I've ever eaten. All sandwiches are served with a small side salad and tangy dressing. Such a satisfying meal on a hot summer evening!
Pros: Beautiful outdoor terrace, Friendly service, Reasonable prices
Cons: There could be more vegan options

Go for the overall experience - Edit
Cafe Santropol is a mostly vegetarian restaurant that has both vegan and meat options. It's great for a group of friends with mixed eating requirements. I ordered the garden salad with tofu, tempeh and cashew cream cheese. The tofu is marinated in a peanut sauce and was very good. The tempeh was also flavorful and delicious. My meat-eating partner was impressed by his chicken salad sandwich, which comes with 1 inch thick bread. My 20 year-old son enjoyed his chicken salad. My step son said the chocolate shake he ordered for dessert was one of the best he's had. My vegan cheese cake was good, but not as tasty as I had anticipated and a bit cold and hard, as if they had just removed it from the freezer.

Montreal Classic - Edit
For me this is a staple place to go in Montreal. I used to live almost around the corner and spent many cold winter evenings here with friends, or sometimes just by myself. It's the type of place that you can eat and hang out for a while to read or work. They bake their own bread for all of the sandwiches, and also roast their own excellent coffee(can be bought in a few supermarkets like the PA and Épicerie Mile End). The soups are usually always really good, as is the chilli. I really like the root sandwich. It's simple, but I think their home-made bread makes the difference. I only wish if they'd make a vegan carrot cake, because I ate way too much of it before I went vegan, but the vegan desserts are also super yummy. In the summer the seating in the back is also really nice.

Cons: We want vegan carrot cake!

Just sandwich - Edit
We went there on a Saturday night at around 6pm. Mainly because it is just a 5-10 minutes drive from Place des Art or 30 minutes walk (around 1.4km). The restaurant was not too busy. There are quite many seats in the restaurant and it has a good home-like atmosphere. The restaurant serve only sandwiches as maincourse. They have 2 soups, one of them is vegan, but both vegetarian. The menu is bilingual in French and English, so as the waiter/ waitress. Vegan/ vegetarian items are clearly marked, basically there are 4-5 choices out from the whole menu. Le grand sandwich with the salad is big. I had sweet root sandwich, it tasted a bit plain though (nut, apple, non-egg mayo, lettuce, carrot). My meat eater friends liked their choices a lot though. The chocolate cheese cake and carrot cake desserts are both fantastic.
