Tasty vegan mezze

On our latest trip, we got the appetizer combo where you pick 5 and we got the hummus, muhammara, dolmas, pickle plate, and “snowballs of the desert”. They were all so good. The dolmas and snowballs were really impressive. We really like the small plates and appetizers here apart from the yam and beef hummus (not a fan of sweet hummus). We also got a bowl of lentil soup and the mishmish entree. The mishmish was a bit on the sweet side and was just OK. We wanted to try the green manti but they were out. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu.

Edit: we tried the vegan pide on our latest trip and it was very good. Great mix of roasted veggie and tomatoes and olives!

Cute Turkish Restaurant

The restaurant is beautifully decorated. It’s a bit cramped inside but i didn't mind too much. My friend and I got the olive pide, muhammara, and vegan manti. The manti was the best in my opinion, the tiny green dumplings were very cute. There were only 2 servers working at the time so service was a little slow, but they were very nice when they came around to us. They had a bunch of vegan options on the menu so there’s something for everyone!

Clearly marked vegan / vegetarian!

Yum! So many good flavors. I got this special dish with grilled vegetables with Turkish spices, rice and a side salad. I also got a cardamon spice tea. It was really tasty. The atmosphere is adorable with all the Turkish lanterns hanging above you. The waitstaff are really nice and helpful. The smells inside are lovely with the Turkish spices. I want to come back here to try more items! I was also told that almost anything can be made vegan on the menu as well. Which is really exciting! We also got a vegan dessert, it was so delicious. Such a different texture, but still really good! If you like Turkish food, I highly recommend this place.

Pros: Clearly marked vegan or vegetarian , Has many gluten free options

Turkish Food

I thought it was good. I ordered the eggplant moussaka plate and some muhammara dip. The dip wasn’t really my favorite. I’d definitely like to try the yam hummus next time. The moussaka was good and came with plenty. I definitely look forward to trying other things on the menu.

Best dolmas I’ve ever tasted

I was hesitant because it’s not a full Ⓥ (or veg) restaurant but wow, I’m blown away. First of all the Ⓥ choice on the menus are abundant. Every dish was traditional but with their own notable flair. Felt like a family-run establishment. Plus they had the best dolmas I’ve ever had and I’m a legit fan of dolmas so …. Cheers!!!

Good Moussaka and nibbles

We really loved the Vegan Eggplant Moussaka, our favorite dish. The yam hummus was fantastic, and my first time having yam hummus! The Gypsy's Yahni was tasty too. The entrees come with fantastic salad and yummy Turkish Pilaf. I only wish they had some of my other favourite Turkish foods, like çiğ köfte !!

Yummy Turkish Food

Falafel is dense and tasty, hummus platter has 4 sweet and creamy dips, but the Gypsy’s Yahni was the star of the meal. Menu has good marking of vegan dishes and some veg dishes can be modified.

Pros: Many vegan options

Unique flavors!

Ordered the pide (first time trying one) and expected it to taste like a cheeseless pizza, but to my surprise, my mouth was bursting with flavor. The dough was soft, and the fried cauliflower (eggplant was the other main veggie) added a *slight* crunch texture with the rest of the dish. It was savory and delicious. Also the interior decor is GORGEOUS!

Pros: unique flavors, BEAUTIFUL interior, LOTS of hummus flavors

Wow. Delicious

Incredible flavors. Cannot wait to try even more of the menu. Be sure to specify between mains and appetizers! Lots of similar names so accidentally ordered a LOT of food (subsequently ate it all)

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Friendly staff, Quick service

Great Turkish Food

I mentioned that I was vegan and the staff was super understanding and made recommendations. The menu was clearly marked with vegetarian and vegan choices too. I started with the yam hummus, which was some of the best hummus I've ever had. Then I ordered the Ali Nazik, which was a sort of eggplant stew served with rice. Usually it contains yogurt, but they switched it out for hummus.

Pros: Knowledgeable staff

Cons: Busy

Disappointing

I was so excited to eat here, the reviews were great, the lines are long and the owner is very personable, but the food was surprisingly bland! We tried 5 vegan dishes and none were very good (and the 4 hummus types in the rainbow hummus were pleasant, but weren’t even as good as Sabra, that makes me sad)!

I was so excited to visit this restaurant, but was very underwhelmed. However, it does have pretty decor, though I don’t think I’ll go again. FYI, it’s a dry restaurant.

Good hummus

The beet hummus, spinach hummus, regular hummus and the walnut thing that looks like hummus are all really good. Can get chopped vegetables instead of the pita bread. I also liked the “Gypsy’s Yahni” dish. Free parking after 6pm.

Pros: Good hummus

Excellent vegan options!

A lot of items on the menu are vegan or can be made vegan, and the highlight for me was that certain dishes, such as lentil soup, that are almost never vegan or even vegetarian (meat stock) in Turkey are vegan here. The menu is clear and the staff understands what vegan means. I had two super delicious meals here! Yum!

Pros: vegan Turkish food, great menu, friendly, helpful staff

Cons: no goz leme
