Non-veg
Serves meat, vegan options available. At this place in downtown you could get the usual veg staples in Mediterranean / Middle Eastern cuisine: hummus, falafel, pita, stuffed grape leaves. Re-located from 165 University Place.

Unknowledgable on what’s vegan or vegetarian - Edit
I visited the restaurant drawn by the good reviews on vegan options. However, their menu only labeled the vegetarian dishes…and my experience with the cashier was troubling. When I asked if the grape leaves and falafel appetizers were fully vegan, he stared at me for several seconds without responding. I had to ask about dairy or yogurt at least three times before he finally answered they were vegetarian (of course I know…it’s written on the menu…)
Read moreVegetarian and vegan are different, so I asked again to ensure there was no dairy/yogurt. He nodded after a long, awkward pause and then took my order. When I got home, I found yogurt dipping sauce with the grape leaves, despite my repeated requests for a vegan option.
The food itself would have been perfect if the yogurt sauce had been omitted or replaced with a vegan alternative. Unfortunately, this interaction has made me hesitant to order "vegan options" from here again, even though I really enjoyed the falafels. 😭😭😭
Pros: Open 24hr, Decent portion, Delicious falafels
Cons: Cashier that served me was not sober

Conveniently Veganizable - Edit
Was very pleased to get some lunch in a pinch from this corner convenience store. I got the Vegetarian Platter. Make sure to specify “No Dairy” as the babag has dairy and they are happy to sub it for another item. The hummus is dressed with pomegranate and the falafels are tasty and not dry.

Read the windows to find the place - Edit
The vegetarian food options are worth getting past the unusual setting of this takeout restaurant. The eggplant wrap is vegan and delicious, featuring fried eggplant that's nothing like the breaded type.

Unassuming minimart with wow factor take out food! - Edit
Unassuming place right on Canal Street, not far from Bourbon Street. You’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking for it. The owner is a friendly guy and much like the rest of the city, up for banter. They sell drinks, candy, the regular convenience store items but the food—just wow! Try the moussaka, it’s a family recipe, with an amazing balance of spice. It’s absolutely perfect. I liked it so much that I went back after I ate it just to tell him how much I loved it!!!

Tasty - Edit
Loved the veg platter (esp the hummus) and the mixed veg plate. Service was a little odd, but food was made fresh and well. Seemed a reasonable price as well, considering the cost of other options and the amount of food. Also the late night availability saved us!

I had a falafel sandwich and fries at 10:30pm not the best I've ever had but if your looking for something vegan at this time in New Orleans I would recommend 👍

Amazing food and friendly place - Edit
This is a small spot right on Canal Street that you would easily miss walking by, but you must go inside! Yes, the restaurant area is at the back of a convenience shop, but I assure you it’s not weird or dirty or any of the above. The food was incredible with tons of vegan options. The server was friendly and knowledgeable about what is or could be made vegan. She even suggested some allergy friendly vegan chocolate bars in the shop! (Soy allergy). I wish I was in NOLA longer, I’d return here for the hummus alone.

Fabulous. Great food, super fresh, beautiful presentation on the plate. Lovely fresh herbs and spices. I’d give them 5 stars but the app won’t let me because they also serve meat

Good food - Edit
We were about to just walk passed this place, since at first sight it just looks like a tiny grocery store. The guy who served us was very helpful with figuring out what is vegan and what is not. I had the Grape leaves (the menu states a vegetarian option but it is actually vegan) and the beans with pita, it was super delicious!

Cleo's was a pleasant surprise. - Edit
Very tasty and flavorful. Great quality and presentation of food.We had a variety of dishes including spinach pie, hummus, grape leaves stuffed with rice, and their Greek salad. All of this was vegan except for the salad which could be without the feta. I was pleasantly surprised. The only downs were that the atmosphere was a corner store with chairs in it, so nothing fancy. Also, they were quite pricy. Their entrees are upwards of $15.00 each. I would go back, just not everyday, lol.

weird, expensive - Edit
This place is like a minimart attached to a gas station, only it's not attached to a gas station. It has this strange setup on one side of the store.

Needed late night meal. The falafel plate was really good. Remember to have them hold the extra olive oil if you do not want the extra fat. The falafel was fried. Not sure what was in the sauces, but I left them alone due to yogurt fear.

good food!! - Edit
Don't let the fact that this place looks a little odd put you off. It's half convenience store, half Mediterranean cafe. It feels weird. But the food is good!! And in NOLA we really struggled to find good vegan food so suck up the atmosphere and give it a go!
Read moreWe had the vegetarian platter : hummus, falafel, grape leaves. All great! We also had the avocado salad which was yummy. They did a lentil soup which I would have tried if I'd had anymore space! Fresh and tasty!
