As someone who’s vegan, I’m always a little apprehensive about what might be served in restaurants — and that uncertainty is only heightened when there’s no visibility ahead of eating.
Read moreThis has always put me off “dark” dining experiences, but I decided to give Dark Concept a go. I could not have been more impressed.
From the moment Magda took my coat, I knew this was a place that took dietary requirements seriously. What followed was a culinary and sensory experience that I couldn’t rate more highly.
The evening began with a thoughtful conversation about allergies, preferences, and what was acceptable for the meal. This was handled with care, genuine understanding, and an appreciation that the key ingredient in a meal you can’t see is trust.
I won’t spoil the excitement of the meal itself, but I’d strongly encourage you to do as suggested and eat with your hands — it adds a wonderful tactile dimension to the experience. The food was exceptional.
What I hadn’t anticipated was how profoundly different eating in complete darkness would feel. The simple pleasure of being without screens for an hour only enhanced the experience.
The evening finished with a conversation with the chef, who was genuinely enthusiastic about what he’d created — and curious whether I could tell what it was.
I arrived expecting a once-in-a-lifetime novelty, but I left already planning my next visit.
