Not super vegan friendly, still good - Edit
I was curious to see how Mexican food measures up in New York City, given how absent it is from the cuisine where I live (DC). This place didn’t do too bad! I ordered a burrito; it took about 15 min for the food to come out so it was certainly made with love : ) My burrito was delish with rice and veggies, and a hearty size. I was disappointed they didn’t include a plant-based protein, but when I questioned the server about the lack of beans, they realized the mistake and quickly corrected it with a side of beans, which was nice. And delicious! They did have vegan cheese on the menu, and I wish they were better able to incorporate it into the burrito.
Read moreThe space inside looks like it fits about 10 to 15 people, with a few tables outside as well. It’s a fun vibe with string lights, the Aztec calendar hanging on the wall, and loud music (don’t bring anybody who is soft spoken).
However, one of the highlights was how friendly the staff were. It was a family joint and they exuded warmth. They chatted with us at the end of the night as we closed down the restaurant. I’d gladly go back just for that!!
Pros: Explicitly vegan items on menu, Friendly staff
Cons: Vegan menu offerings could be expanded

Yummy. Good staples. - Edit
I love the rice and beans. So much. My favorite in town. I get it with an order of pico de gallo and a few empanadas. Yes, that's a ton of food. The potato empanada is my fave. The jackfruit is my least, it's just okay.

Beware the vegan sour cream is just vegan mayo 🤣 unless they've changed it. Some items are misses but the hits are great comfort food.

Good vegan options - Edit
Went here on the advice of this very app and was not disappointed. It’s a no-frills place with a friendly staff. All vegan options are marked. I got the veggie taco with vegan cheese, the potato and vegetable empanada, and the jackfruit barbecue empanada. It was all a bit greasy, but still good! I verified that everything I ordered was vegan and the woman who took our order very thoughtfully asked if I wanted my food separate from the non-vegans in our group. I so appreciate that. No outdoor seating, unfortunately.
