Vegan stroop.

Every trip to Amsterdam requires a huge pit stop here to load up on vegan stroop waffels. I buy like 10 packets at a time because they're impossible to find anywhere in the UK. Buy as many as you can fit into your suitcase and thank me later.

Pros: Did you hear me say vegan stroop waffel.

Cons: Never enough vegan stroop.

Handy store, many options.

Great store in Amsterdam Central Station for all your vegan/vegetarian/alternative needs. Sells things like incence, oils, soaps and some food items. Carries some home-brand alternative remedies that are hard to find anywhere else in Amsterdam.

Pros: Variety of products, Friendly staff

small convenience store

As it's inside the train station, it's hard to miss as you exit from your train. It's a small convenience store with a few basics which suited us just fine for a quick breakfast. The pastries and rolls are all in Dutch, but the friendly staff pointed out which ones were vegan. Disappointed that the seitan and tempeh rolls had butter, but the macaroon was delicious as was the two other pastries we got. We also got some chocolate, stroopwafels and lots of pate. They even have the larger cans.

Pros: vegan options, inside train station

Cons: rolls had butter

Friendly staff

Very conveniently located and has nice long opening hours. I really appreciate that many of the vegan items are clearly marked as such. It's not somewhere to get a full meal for a train journey from, but has a good choice of biscuits, nuts, dried fruits, raw chocolates and drinks, as well as cosmetics, supplements and toiletries. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Pros: location

Convenient

This store is one of the few places in Central Station where you can get some decent vegan food on the go. (Other options are Starbucks coffee, falafel from the shoarma place, Smullers french fries, Julia's whole wheat penne pasta without cheese, and some items from HEMA and AH to go)
The Billy's Farm cookies are nice and from the pastry section the coconut-macaroon (=kokosmakroon), wakame rolls and samosa are vegan. Beware that the seitan and tempeh rolls are not vegan because they contain butter (=roomboter).
The store also carries quite a few vegan staples such as nutritional yeast, nuts, chia, dried fruit etc. For meat analogues and vegan dairy you are better off in a supermarket or bigger health food store in the city center.

Fair Fayre

Can't really miss this place as you walk through the Centraal Station towards the main exit. Thought we'd get a small soya milk here but no luck. The fridge was also poorly stocked. No worries though as otherwise it does sell various veg whole foods and products. It's not somewhere I'd come back to necessarily as you'd have to backtrack to the train station and there are much better stores in the centre. To be honest even Albert Hein the main supermarket chain has better soya milk selections. Nonetheless it's 100% meat free so an asset to the city.

Pros: Handy for travelling

Cons: Limited fridge selection, Pricey
