Supermarket with large organic section

This is one of two supermarkets owned by the Hualien city farmers' association. There is a large selection of fruit and vegetables, many of which are organic, but unfortunately come pre-packed in plastic. There are also numerous local regional products, as well as the normal grocery items that you'd expect at a supermarket. There is a smaller store attached to this supermarket (on Guofu 10th street) selling exclusively organic products with a good selection of vegan faux meats, mainly of the 'loving hut' brand. You can choose to visit here instead of one of the corporate supermarkets or if you want some local food products.

Pros: Lot's of fresh produce, many local and organic products, locally owned by a farmers' co-op

Cons: Not many specifically vegan items, not much parking space for cars, Most of the produce is wrapped in plastic

Supermarket with Variety of food Products.

So if you are vegan/ vegetarians you might want to buy fresh veges instead most of the dried goods inside the package are written in Chinese and better have a translator with you to make sure you will read the ingredients first. I didnt buy any dried goods I was hoping it was pure vegetarian place but it was not so I guess better go back to Taipei and buy at vegan supermarket.

Cons: not expensive.

Great spot

Very good quality products large selection, lots of local and typical taiwanese products, can get pretty much anything you'd need for snacks on the go or eating at home, carries large selection of loving hut products, fresh greens, nuts seeds beans rice etc
