Soul food 🥰 - Edit
Beautiful home made delicious plant based goodness in a great vibes setting surrounded by healthy plants and art, bathed in vinyl-played grooves,- my new favourite vegan cafe to which I shall regularly travel from the Scottish Borders to treat myself!

Für das Essen an sich würden wir fünf Sterne geben. Als wir jedoch im Café saßen, ist uns ein Aufkleber einer Kampagne aufgefallen. Wir sind dann auf die dazugehörige Instagramseite gegangen und sind dort gleich zu Beginn auf eine menschenfeindliche und antisemitische Aufforderung gestoßen. Wir haben dann das Gespräch mit dem Mitarbeiter gesucht, dieses verlief sehr ruhig und freundlich, auch wenn wir einige Ansichten gegenseitig nicht teilten. Er meinte dann, dass er bisher nicht so wie wir über die Wortwahl der Kampagne und das dadurch entstehende Bild, bzw. die klare Aussage nachgedacht habe, er wolle keine Jüd*innen ausschließen. Er wirkte insgesamt eher irritiert, da es bei diesem Thema scheinbar auch in dieser Region keine reflektierte Auseinandersetzung und somit nur ein einseitiges Bild gibt. Wir hoffen, dass er wirklich nochmal versucht, das Ganze aus einer anderen Perspektive zu betrachten, die dann nicht mehr die Forderung der Kampagne aufgreift, dass bestimmte Menschen aus dem Stadtteil ferngehalten werden sollen und er die Aufkleber abnimmt. Wenn nicht, halten wir den Ort für schwierig, selbst wenn der Mitarbeiter freundlich und dialogbereit ist, müssen es nicht die anderen Gäste sein, welche potenziell die Forderung der Kampagne gut finden und wörtlich nehmen sowie umsetzen wollen.

this is a truly perfect spot. first off, the food is phenomenal. it’s homemade and holistic. so often at vegan restaurants I leave feeling icky because I know the food I had felt very processed. Here it is truly healthy, run and operated by the sweetest couple. All day she was holding her baby while she took orders - it really added to the feel of kindness and sweetness this cafe offers. I spent about 3 hours there - reading my book, enjoying. Lots of room to relax and read or write. The toast and hot chocolate were phenomenal.

A very relaxed cafe with as good a taste in music as food. We had "soup of the day" and "bread with spread" as well as scones and coffee. All delicious, the man running it was very kind. I love the artwork. It was unexpected to walk in and find I have the same robin artwork on my living room wall as Folk cafe have on their wall!

We had the soup of the day. It was not only warm but quite tasty with fresh spices. Excellent fare for a cold day. The homemade bread that came with the soup was freshly baked and delicious. Well done. Everything was reasonably priced. I'll be going back.

Visited this cafe on a whim and it was lovely. My sister and I went for breakfast - overnight oats for her and cream "cheese" on toast for me - and both were delicious, as was the coffee.

We went to Folks Cafe for breakfast and were immediately greeted by the super friendly owner, Callum. The food and drinks were amazing, we had the Sloppy Folks (soooo yummy!!) and the pizza (incredibly tasty!), and I took some cake with me, which was also delicious. The atmosphere was super cosy, lots of plants and beautiful furniture, and wall decorations really lightened the place up! We really enjoyed our stay, chat and culinary experience and were super sad when we were back in Edinburgh before departure, and Folks Cafe was closed. But we will definitely be back in the future!

This is an amazing cafe in every way. Very delcious and healthy food, very laid back and relaxed, family owned and run. I live locally and have been to Folks Cafe a number of times and have never been disappointed. It is excellent and highly recommend.

A delicious lunch stop! We had the 3 salad combo and one of the Bread & Spread specials between the 2 of us and it was very delicious and filling the owner had his record collection onsite so it’s not sitting unused in his house, so we had some cool 70s vibes to go with the food and plants which surrounded us. Great!

A peaceful cafe outside of the busy city centre. The owners are really friendly and make you feel welcome. Every single item on the menu is delicious - we almost bought everything to take back with us!! One of the owners also sells beautiful, sustainably made prints in the cafe.

I attempted to come at around 10am on a Sunday but unfortunately they had sold out of everything, they make more throughout the day though and I came back later and tried a selection. Everything I tasted for very nice and I loved the vibe of the place, felt very homey.
