Interesting dishes

I got the full platter. It was a bit different from what I expected, but it was tasty and interesting. The kombucha was very good.

Great food, special beer is special

Their avocado sandwich is one of the bests I ever had, their plater with various fermented goods was also excellent. Seem to not use honey anymore, except some sweets.
Their special fermented beers are special. Definitely an experience, but not something I would try again. But would still recommend for the curious.
Super friendly staff.

Interesting place with unique offerings

Loved the vibe of the place. Menu was quite interesting too. Don't recall the names, but in drinks, had the regular beer and the sour beer with a peach syrup. Also had the cocktail Margarita. We also had the full spread and potato salad. I liked that they had an option for a person like me who isn't into beer. I liked their sauerkraut and Kimchi creations. Potato salad wasn't good.

Pros: Unique experience , Friendly staff, good fermented creations

Cons: Some offerings weren't enjoyable

Heavenly! Worth the wait.

They were busy and swamped, but the friendly, knowledgeable staff were very transparent and communicative about the process and the delays. That helps so much!

I got the loaded avocado toast and OMG I was not prepared for how good it would be! Even the way they dressed the salad greens was exquisite. I got a nice kombucha and then felt inspired to go back for the beverage with delicious macadamia coconut sludge crusted around the rim of the glass. And a cookie and a pretzel to go which I haven’t eaten yet, but which I’m sure will not disappoint. I wish there was more time in town to go back!

Pros: Fabulous staff, Charming vibe, EXCEPTIONAL FOOD

Cons: Long wait , Expensive

Make your microbiome happy

I made the long trek from the city down to San Jose the day after Christmas to check out Fox Tale Fermentation Project. I loved the interesting ingredients they use in their beers, and their fermented items list is lengthy. Gotta go back and try more of them. In addition to dining in (either indoors or outdoors), you can get some merch, support local artists displaying their work, or get bottles of beverages or jars of fermented eats to take away. The vast majority of their menu is vegan: just be on the lookout for honey in the ingredients lists. (Note: You might see that some items are lacto-fermented, referring to a fermentation method that produces a beneficial strain of bacteria called Lactobacillus. Doesn't contain dairy or lactose.) Felipe and Wendy are awesome!

Thank you so much for your great review! We are so happy you had such a great time. We wanted to let you know however, that there is currently no lactose at all in any products! The confusion may come from items that are Lacto-Fermented. This means they are fermented in a way that produces Lactobacillus, a beneficial strain of bacteria. No lactose involved!

Awesome, thanks for clarifying! I have run into this before at other places, so it's helpful to get confirmation that there isn't actual dairy/lactose in any food/beverage items. :)
