Reasonable food

We were visiting the temple nearby, so it was convenient to eat lunch here. The 'uncle' gave us an English menu and marked our order form with no egg/milk as we're vegan. The curry udon was light with chewy noodles and fake meat and had a good flavour. Not spicy at all! The fried rice was odd - quite sweet and a little mushy. The dumplings were quite plain but improved with soy sauce. The fried mushrooms had crispy basil leaves and were very tasty. They forgot to give us one vegetable dish but were okay to refund us. The bill was cheap!

Very average

Staff don’t speak much English but they have an English menu and use google translate when needed.

The owner is lovely, seemed like a very sweet man.

The food however wasn’t the best. I had the mapo tofu and it didn’t taste of much. I also ordered mushroom rice as I wasn’t aware the mapo came with rice and that was very mushy.

They did give me a free drink though which was nice of them.

Nice place near Confucius temple

Nice little restaurant with lovely owners. They had an English menu for us where needed to mark what we wanted to eat.
We asked if what we had chosen is vegan and he confirmed that, but made a extra note for the kitchen with no milk and no egg in Mandarine.
The restaurant itself is decorated in an old styled Taiwanese way which feels like sitting in an living room.
Prices are very affordable.

Pros: Nice owners, A lot of options, Good pricing

So so food near Confucius Temple.

They have set menu meals and maybe some a la carte. Not everything is vegan and you need to request a vegan menu. So be careful when ordering your meal as there might be egg or honey etc. Just clarify. You have to order from a paper menu that you mark. If you're hungry and don't want to go too far from your zone, then this place is alright. But the food was kinda bland. It's run by a cute family who want you to be satisfied, so it's nice to support them. But don't expect super yummy food.

Pros: decent price, set menu

Cons: lacks flavour, no english menu

Tasteless food

I have had a lot of delicious food in Taiwan, but this does not go into that box! I got sizzly udon noodles with vegetables, but the food was totally tasteless. The "vegetables" were two pieces of broccoli and canned corn and peas. It came with a just as tasteless soup. A disappointment!

Pros: English menu, kind staff

Taiwanese restaurant with many vegan options

run by nice people, you see lots of locals picking up take away. I recommend set meals as they come with soup, dessert and beverage.

Reasonable Vegetarian place

They had English menu. But the staff didn't speak English. He was kind though. You need to pay before they bring meal.
We had few appetizers and sesame oil hot pot.
The hot pot came with rice and extra vegetables for the hot pot.
It tasted a bit bland but it's reasonable and good portion.
Over all I think it's a good restaurant

Vegetarian Restaurant serving traditional meals

They have an English Menu, prepayment is required. Some dishes contain dairy/egg so we showed them the following text (我不吃奶蛋。/ I don’t consume milk or eggs) and they were able to verify that what we chose was vegan friendly.

We had the sesame oil hotpot, green bean noodles, fried tofu and dumplings. All of which were delicious.

There is a self service station outside the kitchen where you can put sauce in small plastic containers, as well as a drawers full of utensils, tissue boxes and cold oolong tea with paper cups beside the jug.

Pros: Delicious Taiwanese food, Affordable , English menu available

Cons: Most staff appear to not understand English

Great vegetarian restaurant located in Central Tainan, opposite the Confucius temple.
Been here a couple of times and food was great both times. Simple but delicious and affordable, which is a plus!
English menu available, ask about what's Vegan. Staff are happy to help.

Confucius Eats

This place is clean and affordable. It's easy to order from the English menu. The food isn't extravagant or especially tasty, but as vegetarian options good, this is a pretty good idea.

Pretty decent food. Cheap.

Small local restaurant with a handful of tables indoor. Friendly staff, English menu available, but no English spoken. I had a good meal for 80 Taiwanese dollar.
