Dang! That's a good burger and fry

If you're looking for a yummy, fun meal, gnarly's is a great spot. As others have said, the fries are phenomenal. I really enjoyed the Dang! Burger too. I enjoyed sitting in Swan Dive (the bar that gnarly's is inside of) and watching an old timey movie on a projector while eating my meal. I did feel pretty sluggish afterwards, but that's the price you pay for a scrumptious burger and fries.

Burgers

I can’t remember which burger I ordered but I enjoyed it. Also got some smothered fries which I liked as well. I really like the fries that come with the burger. #Veganuary

Best fries on earth

Awesome burgers, but even more surprised by the delicious fries! The front door has one small step, but outside two tables are wheelchair accessible.
*edit they have a ramp!

Great burgers and uniquely delicious fries

The burgers were delicious, and we would love to try more of them. The fries were especially unique and delicious with the crispy and curly texture and decadent toppings. Two burgers + a loaded fry was a little too much food for two of us, but it was worth it. The setting on the patio out behind the bar with our dog was nice and relaxed. Parking was a little tricky, but it wasn't too bad.

Pros: Great burgers, Unique and delicious fries, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Parking was a little tricky

Vegan burger of my dreams

I got the sallyweaver with fries and it was so good! The burger was soft with lots of bbq sauce and crunchy onions. The fries were good, I like a little crispier though, so double fried would have been perfect

It's About to Get Gnarly

Stopped by real quick. Got loaded gnarly fries and a shake. The fries were great, wedge style. Loved the sauce and the cheese was tasty. Shake was a miss. It had what I think is a soy milk after taste. Like that soy milk that is just straight soy beans. Not sure if that's true, and that's usually a good quality milk, but it didn't work in my shake.
Definitely plan to stop by again and try a burger.

Amazing vegan food!

First time in. Plenty of space and easy to choose a cozy spot to sit on a Thursday at lunchtime. You can order from your phone at your table. Excellent service. The chicken burger and fries rivals some of the best tasting vegan food I’ve ever had. No exaggeration. So good!

Pros: Food, Ordering from phone , Not too crowded

Best burger in town!

Hands down, best burger in Portland. They use a unique meat blend that brings all the juicy, umami goodness along with housemade sauces and THE BEST FRIES. No kidding. Get the fries! They are thick, nice and crispy and will stay hot for hours. I go to gnarlys almost weekly.

Pros: Fries, Dang burger

Totally Gnar

Get down here quick and get yourself the best burger and fries you'll have! I have a family member who won't even try anything if it's vegan, but they ate the burger and didn't even know any different. The whole night they kept telling me how it was one of the best burgers they've ever had, so there ya go, you can't even tell!

Good Burgers

I’ve been to Gnarlys a couple of times now and both times I enjoyed what I ordered. The Portland burger week special was delicious and I would be happy to see it on the menu in the future. The “Dang,” burger was also flavorful and had a good sauce to burger ratio.

The price is inline with competing vegan restaurants. The fries were crispy but could use a seasoning mix or something like a chili or other infused oil to be tossed in to add more interest. I would recommend ordering in person as the fries did not keep very well the one time I got them delivered. One other thing I would be interested in seeing is a burger which has a patty that has been griddled then placed in a frier—this is what a vegan restaurant I went to in London did and it was probably the best burger I’ve had— topped with garlic aioli.

Outdoor seating is available in an area shared with a brewery. I would recommend Gnarlys for anyone who likes burgers. 9.5/10 one of the top burgers I’ve had.

Pros: Good burger, Vegan

Cons: Fries could be better

The reviews were right! 🍟

The reviews were right, some of the best fries we’ve had! Burger was very tasty too and the mozzarella sticks were decent. Wanted to try one of the milkshakes, but was too full!! Next time though! Nice outdoor patio shared with Ecliptic Brewery with lots of outdoor seating! Definitely will be back.

Best vegan burger I’ve ever had!

I’ve been vegan for 10 years and this is the best I’ve had. The owners are super nice and truly care about the quality of their food. I had their signature burger the sauce is insane and made from scratch! Then had the bbq burger which was perfect.

I loved how it’s not super greasy, modern times had a good vegan burger but it always felt so greasy and overly unhealthy.

Gnarlys is a must for for any vegan in Portland! Thanks guys for all you do!

Pros: Best sauces ever!, House blended plant based patty

Cons: Nothing negative… go here!

Fries Are Beyond the Burgers

I ordered the primo burger and fries. The burger was tasty, but nothing special since it's just Beyond meat with some toppings. However, the fries were better than I expected. I usually don't like thick-cut fries, but these spirals were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I would appreciate some more homemade items on the menu, especially when I can make a Beyond burger at home for a lot cheaper. #Veganuary

Pros: all vegan

Cons: a little pricey
