Excellent value

15 RMB buffet, small with quite a choice of dishes, well cooked and seasoned.
There were even some deep fried doughnuts as desserts, very sweet and delicious.
As mentioned in other comments, the food is not spicy and there’s a possibility to gift meals for 8 RMB.

Vegan food at 15 yuan

It’s like home food. Very limited spicy as well as they do not offer the spicy pickles or any sauces like chilli sauce and other type. If best if you need rice and some vegetables. Good to fill the stomach. If you prefer some more variety or need more options then this is not recommended. As pe the price is best.

Pros: Vegetables, Rice

Cons: In the middle of the market, Small space

absolutely amazing

The food is incredible and plenty of dishes in the buffet. The place is always full but the atmosphere is really nice and people are lovely. The food is super cheap, and even tho the place looks far from fancy, the overall experience is great.
As some have mentioned, there is also an option to donate for them to be able to make meals for lower income people - you donate however much you want, one meal for donation being 8 yuan.
There's no English speakers, but you probably won't need it. Everything is vegan and there are drinks (soy milk and some others) and soups available as well.
Been there twice - for lunch and dinner, and would definitely re-visit when in Guangzhou.

tasty food

It was really hard for me to find good food in canton. This place is very cheap (12 yuan per person), serves a lot of vegetables and their silken tofu is just delicios! Its just a simple buffet with good food.

Vegan and cheap

The best value for money/quality I eat there every day )) This buddhist vegan buffet allows you to eat as much as you want, pretty big choice of the dishes and the possibility of take away.

Pros: Cheap, Nice flavours, Huge portions

Cons: Too crowded between 12-13 pm and 6-7 pm, Not very clean, some dishes may be not hot

Good little buddhist canteen

Small local place with a pretty decent variety of vegetables, tofu, and mushroom dishes. They also have tasty soups, in particular the pumpkin soup that I really liked.
You can get as much vegan food as you want for only 13RMB as long as you finish your food! Don't waste the food here, it is a buddhist restaurant.
I have been to lots of restaurants in Guangzhou and I argue this one might be the best value for money that I found.
I also appreciated the fact that dishes are not too oily as compared to many other small local restaurants.
I recommend this restaurant for people who are trying to avoid gluten, as long as you stay away from the baked buns.
I wish they had raw foods, but it is China.

Pros: Value for money, Great food, You'll be full

Cons: nothing raw

Great Little Local Place

Vegan food at this price one wouldn't be surprised if it tasted terrible, but it's actually really good, and they've got a good selection too. As usual in China it's a bit oily The green beans tasted a bit buttery but I've been staying away from oil so often that it may very well be that it was just similar tasting. It's about a five minute bus ride from Haizhu Square metro station on bus 10, 3 stops. Right in from of a temple.

Pros: Cost, Tasty, Selection

Cons: Distance

Off The Beaten Track, GZ-style.

Hong Shan Su [censored] is a worthy addition to anyone's list of potential destinations for meat- and dairy- free dining in GZ. A little off the beaten track - it will require (gasp!) a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest MTR or bus stop - and resembling the other local eateries along this section of South Road, the potential is there for the first-time visitor to miss it. However, the unassuming appearance belies the wholesomeness of the food therein, which is served buffet-style in the main dining area (as this space is not too large, we were obliged by the host who set up extra tables for our group on the street outside). The food is a familiar assortment of vegetable, tofu/beancurd, and mushroom dishes with both rice and noodles available to accompany. As it is self-service, you can pile on as much as required, and it seems acceptable to go for seconds (one would assume, however, that leaving food uneaten on your plate is a faux pas). The price is cheap, even by local Chinese eaterie prices, so if you are feeling flush you can 'gift' a meal to low-income and old diners when you pay.

Pros: Great food, Friendly staff, Gift scheme
