Inauthentic flavors, definitely not fresh food. Avoid.

I don’t understand the rave reviews. I’ve had far, far superior South Indian food in Paris, LA, New York, Berlin - just about anywhere.

I went and ordered the most obvious stuff - a masala dosa and rasam idli. Yes, ok, fast service - great. Not so great - they served me a dosa that had clearly been sitting around for a while. The dosa should be light, crispy, and hot, not dense, crunchy, and tepid. This is like a gimme for a restaurant, and it was a fail.

The idli were inedible. Again, they were obviously sitting around. Rasam was flat, flavorless, and again cold! It should be peppery, vinegary, punchy, and piping hot. I had one bite and told them it was no good. It wasn’t!!

Of course I still had to pay. I guess at 2+- euros for food you get what you pay for. Strongly recommend avoiding this place.

I give it one star for having servers on their feet.

Edit: Corrected a typo.

A real good address !

Lot of local people in that place, It's a good sign. The service is fast, the food from south india tasty, with large portions. Just, they did a mistake with the cold coffee : they served it with ice cream. I said them I wanted a simple cold coffee but they never remplace it .

Pros: Tasty, local, cheap, good address

Cons: "vegan concept" sometimes badly understwood.

Okayish

I didn't find the taste to be authentically southern! But the place is definitely run by southerners and maybe they have just tweaked it to suit the people of Varanasi!

Nevertheless a decent place to eat vegan/vegetarian food in Varanasi. Idli and Dosa are typically vegan everywhere, and it's better to ask them if they've used ghee/butter in any of their recipes.

I doubt you'll find better southern food in Varanasi than this though.

Pros: Some Vegan Options, Healthy and Hygienic, Pocket-friendly

Cons: Not the most authentic southern food, Idli need to be more fluffy! Haha

So delicious dishes, very cheap

The best south indian food I ate!
The prices are amazing for such a place.
Samber and coconut chutney are served at will, someone goes between the tables to fill again your bowls.

As it is a very famous place, it may be crowded according to the hours.

Pros: Very inexpensive, Delicious food

Cons: You need to wait to have a table at some hours
