I went on a Thursday at 13:00 and was the only customer in the bakery. The owners happily answered my questions. For instance, I didn’t notice the little red asterisk in the top-right corner of the main bread display case that tells customers that any item marked with it contains dairy. However, I did have to ask whether individual items contained honey: the cinnamon roll is topped with it even though it contains no dairy. Yogurt seems to be a commonly used form of dairy in a few of the loaves like olive. I ended up getting a whole bauernbrot cut in half to share with a friend. I definitely want to come back and get the kirsch bread, which the owners confirmed is plant-based! I didn’t see any pretzels when I was there, but maybe I came at the wrong time. I’ll be sure to ask if they are vegan when I see them.

I love their bread so much, it fills my German heart with joy. Unfortunately I was informed some items like the pretzel used to have butter in them, so make sure to always ask about ingredients.

close to german bread but not 100% - Edit
i’m german and i miss my dark bread made from rye flour.. it looks indeed like the one back home in germany but taste is not 100% sadly but still better than the soft sweet bread that is being sold everywhere; also quite pricey :(

Delicious rustic bread, many options suitable for vegans. In Japan it’s hard to find anything other than white bread, and most of the time only baguette is vegan.
