Limited options - Edit
I really was excited but I was disappointed with the limited options. When we checked in the staff asked about dietary restrictions, they noted that I was vegan. But every breakfast and dinner I had to have another discussion about no meat and no dairy. Breakfast was only one option, which was good, but after five days, not so much. It was hard to get into town to eat elsewhere because you needed a taxi, which was $20 USD round trip. So it just felt like I was paying more to find food I can eat. Just a bit of a bummer.

Accommodating staff - lovely view - Edit
I was not blown away by the food but was very pleased with how attentive and accommodating the staff was. There are limited vegan options- but most of the vegetarian items can be modified.
Read moreI ordered a modified version of the vegetarian ceviche (w/o aioli) and they were able to substitute another sauce.
While it was “pricey” by Costa Rica standards- I’d say it was pretty reasonable given the fine dining experience.
Come for the sunset!
Pros: Great views for sunset , Accommodating staff
Cons: Bread was not vegan, Limited options

Great vegan options - Edit
Came here for a vegan dinner and wasn‘t disappointed. The staff was just great and when the bread they offered wasn‘t vegan I got served a plate of grilled zucchini which I appreciated very much. Had the grilled vegetables and avocado as a starter and then the lasagne. Everything was perfect!

Excellent food, service, and views! - Edit
My 2 friends and I came here and were delighted with their delicious vegan food and drinks along with very reasonable prices, especially for a "fancy" restaurant with a great view. Their parent company Gaia, also maintains a nature reserve on site, which I believe includes a sloth sanctuary and macaw breeding/release program - huge plusses. The 3 of us split the vegan ceviche (green lentils on top of an avocado half) and I had the vegan lasagna. Both were incredible, especially the ceviche! My friends had the vegan pasta (which they also made gluten free by subbing rice noodles) and vegetarian rice cake which was HUGE and came with a separate plate of fried onions and carrots to put on top. After our ceviche, the waiter brought us each a complimentary vegan blackberry sorbet "to cleanse the palate". The three of us also enjoyed their vegan cocktails, having 2 each. Total cost of our meal, including tax and tip, for a large appetizer, 3 mini sorbets, 3 main dishes and 6 cocktails was $130 US, or around $43 pp, which would have easily been 2 or 3 times that where I live in California. They also serve vegan items for breakfast and lunch. Great food, service, views and value to enjoy while supporting nature and wildlife. The best meal and overall dining experience of our trip!

Amazing views and lovely food - Edit
Its a very fancy hotel which I wasn't quite expecting, but it meant the service matched! My waiter was super attentive and friendly. I ordered the vegetable wrap with mushrooms which was really tasty, and a lovely frozen mango juice! The fries were just okay though, could definitely have been better. My food came with two dips, one being aoili which obv isn't vegan, but the waiter noticed I wasn't eating it and I explained why so he came back with another lovely vegan friendly dip instead, I didn't even ask! I was expecting it to be extortionate but it wasn't too crazy. The setting is beautiful too with the most unreal view 😍

Fancy, but totally worth it - Edit
Their vegan options are delicious, but they're very happy to also alter their non-vegan dishes, if you have a wish to do so. The guy was literally excited when I mentioned I found this place on Happy Cow.

Overrated - Edit
This restaurant has the trappings of a high quality establishment, but sadly the food did not live up to our expectations. While there is a dedicated vegan and vegetarian menu, these are dominated by pasta dishes. Of the remaining few dishes, I ordered the curry which was a huge disappointment. It lacked flavour and substance.

If you want a fancy spot with a great view then this is the place for you. Creative menu with many vegan options and a really beautiful setting. You park at the bottom near the gatehouse of Gaia hotel and get whisked to the restaurant by a golf car.

Can’t miss - Edit
Definitely don’t skip La Luna if you are in the area. They have a good number of vegan options clearly set out on a separate menu (a couple of salads, a soup, and four or five mains). It also has a spectacular view right over the ocean. Make it an early supper and you’ve got a perfect sunset view. This is a very classy restaurant with extremely good, but not stuffy service. The prices are totally reasonable for what you get and the food is excellent. The drinks are expensive, but beautifully crafted.

Great vegan food - Edit
The restaurant has a vegan menu with a lot of creative vegan food. I had the mango chutney with rice and it was absolutely amazing. Very good service and not too expensive. We paid between 10-15$ per meal. They even have vegan ice cream.
