sekte - Edit

Lovely, unusual veganic breads - Edit
I love their breads. They have a complex taste and crisp crusts. They are made from 'old' types of grains, that bakers used before wheat became dominant. These grains are richer in nutrients than wheat, and many of the breads are wholefood, too.
Read moreIt's all biocyclic vegan farming, according to the company. That means they don't abuse any animals in the process of farming, whereas 'standard' farming always uses animals excretion and usually body parts for fertilizer/ manure. Therefore, even regular organic farming still abuses animals, and if you spend money there, your money supports animal agriculture. Only biocyclic vegan farming does not.
Seeing how there is very little such farming in Germany, I'm happy to buy these products here.
Yes, it's a sect. Is it worse than other religious communities? I don't, for a moment, recommend believing or supporting any of their wacky dogmas. But I think a nuanced position is possible: Many big organic brands are associated with esoteric groups with similarly problematic views and structures, including DM, Alnatura, Demeter... My approach is to criticise those views and their policies but support the good things that they also offer.
This market stall, like the Lebe Gesund Shops in other cities, has amazing bread and baked goods, and very decent spreads.
