I've visited LooLa twice, and each time, I like it more. I also like Singapore a lot, but every now and then, I like to get away from the concrete, the arctic aircon, and all the other causes of the approaching climate change catastrophe.
LooLa is just the place for that. First, LooLa is green because t's just a boat, not a plane, trip away. Second, you can have modern comforts in a moderate way, such as the aircon isn't too strong, and the wifi is there, just enough to do important stuff.
A third green feature of LooLa is the vegan food, and so many local vegan dishes that are rare in SG. Maybe the most unique feature of LooLa is the opportunity to give back to the Earth and the people of Bintan by building waster sanitation systems and planting mangrove trees.
We had the privilege to be the guinea pigs to try out LooLa Resort's new vegan menu a few weeks ago. Local vegetables freshly bought at the market and cooked into delicious local fare. Jackfruit gulai, petai & jengkol sambal, vegetable assam soup and bananaflower stirfry to name a few of the dishes we tried.

Pros: Chance for water sports, Beautiful views, Friendly staff
Cons: Water usually too shallow to swim in the sea
