The scrambled eggs with charsiu was so so yummy and was very nostalgic. There’s also a lot of options for dim sum at the front of the store. I would definitely come back for their radish cake (so so good) and pan fried bao. Their charsiu bao was a bit dry, but other than that everything I tried was really good!

Dishes were enough to share, which my group didn't realize so we ordered too much food. We particularly enjoyed the lotus, mushroom and sweet pea, and also the potatoes and mushrooms. A lot of the menu was in English, but the back section was in Cantonese, there were already so many options we didn't even try to translate that section. Many dishes were made with mock meats. A soup at the beginning and a dessert at the end were served complimentary. There was a 10% service charge on the bill. Because we had over ordered we asked to take away the leftovers, and they were still good cold in the morning.

As explained by the other reviewers, the menu for rice and noodles are in Chinese. The waitresses do speak English, but none could understand what I was asking for (all I wanted was fried noodles). They then completely ignored me and attended to their patrons. I had no other choice but to find soomeplace else to eat. I've not stepped foot in this restaurant since. It is just 2 doors away from where I live.

Food: portion and ingredients are generous (please see photo) although I hadn't the chance to try many different dishes I tend to believe that they don't skimp in their products. The only negative is that some dishes came out very oily. One to really avoid is the stir fried rice noodles (炒河粉). Very greasy.

Place: What caught my eye is that there's an exhaust fan on the shopfront drawing air out. Next, there's a floor fan turned on near the cash register, circulating air in the room. Two cassette type air conditioners on the ceiling. This shows the management's concern for air quality in the dining room, a small detail.
Cleanliness: the table "cloth" looks like cloth and is easily cleaned. The floor is "carpeted" dark green and very clean. For a common Chinese eating place what's unusual is that they provide a full box of tissues on each table.
These are tiny details that give you a clue as to how they approach the running of a food place. And they get high marks.
Kowloon City has its own flavours as a place. Buildings are (still) low, lots of sun shining in. Shops are varied and many are decades old. People are very friendly, lots of Chiu Chows. The place is bustling day and night.

Very friendly staff and great selection of food. Some of it rather special (in a good sense ;)). Definitely try the fried potatos with mushroom!
Read moreLook for small circles in the pictures. Those indicate eggs in the dishes. Also double check that there is no butter in it if you are vegan!

A little off the beaten track but worth the effort of going there.
It is located just to the north of Boundary Street - a few minutes walk from the delightful 'Kowloon Walled City Park' - I usually pick up a 106 bus on Hong Kong Island when I am heading to that part of town.
