A favorite Brooklyn spot, good lunch special

I’ve been going to this place for years. My favorite is the BBQ tempeh bowl with seaweed, pumpkin, quinoa, kale, beans. For lunch I get the prosperity platter- simple veg and tofu plate with rice, soup, spring roll.

Okay

The ‘miso glazed eggplant’ appealed to me as the eggplant was touted as ‘grilled’, but it had clearly been vat-fried. It was tasty (as fried eggplant is), but came out with only a bitter knife for cutlery - in long thick chunks, so soft it was difficult to eat with chopsticks.

The ‘miso ramen’ had nice ingredients, but tasted of absolutely nothing til hot sauce was added; noodles were sloppy and overcooked.

The ‘raw Thai salad’ was a bowl of predominantly chopped kale, a pile of almonds and sliced avo thrown over the top - green papaya and cashew cheez dip unable to be identified.

The home-brewed ginger ale was good.

Pros: Ginger ale, Good menu, Large servings, Open til late

Cons: Menu didn’t quite deliver

Whole-food Asian vegan restaurant

Everything had great flavor, and I love to see a vegan menu where the majority is plants and not non-vegan processed substitutes! Loved the intimate environment as well. Went for lunch on a Monday and the hostess/server was friendly and bright.

Pros: Flavor, Not processed food, Creative menu

Vegan Chinese Food

Went here for Xmas dinner. Very ‘A Christmas Story’-esque but more hipster. It was very good. All dishes were delicious. Will definitely go back again.

Great vegan restaurant in a fun part of Brooklyn!

I love pan-Asian restaurants and I'm willing to sacrifice service for food which unfortunately I've found so often to be the case. Not so with Luanne's Wild Ginger! The service and the food were excellent and I'm so grateful. There were five of us, with two of us non-vegans who had never eaten a (known) vegan meal in their lives. The food was delicious and we got it in a very timely manner.

We ordered a variety of dishes in order to sample lots of things (noodles are my favorite). The appetizers/small plates were great! We loved the oyster mushrooms, they were savory and delicious. The eggplant small plate with miso was wonderful and with four pieces was perfect for sharing! Everything was delicious. I would highly recommend the Malaysian curry which was really wonderful and very hardy.

We sat outside in an enclosed garden area but that didn't sacrifice the great service from our server. She was cheerful, funny, and completely efficient. In short, a delight.

The restaurant is in a charming part of Brooklyn, where it's lovely to walk and window shop. Definitely go, if you're curious and love this type of food. My non-vegan friends loved the food, enjoyed the mock meats, and frankly, it blew their minds!

Pros: Excellent, interesting and varied menu, Delicious food and nice sized portions, Great service

Solid vegan spot with multiple locations

LuAnne’s Wild Ginger is a solid spot for Brooklyn vegan dining. I was hesitant about their pan-Asian menu but the first visit quickly dispelled that, so much so that I went a second time on the same trip. This was a time before I lived in Brooklyn and now that I do I’ve gone back to LuAnne’s several times.

The seared miso eggplant topped with hijiki mushrooms is a fav. This is the only place I’ve seen this served and it’s a must dish. Would also recommend the black pepper seitan served on a bed of bok choy, a staple on Chinese menus. This vegan version is tasty.

Luanne’s has several locations in Brooklyn and in the city. This loc is probably my favorite because the other Leeuwen, Van Leeuwen to be exact, is just a couple blocks down the street for vegan ice cream.

All vegan pan-Asian cuisine

If the pandemic ever ends and we all allow ourselves to start dining indoors again, Luanne’s is not to be overlooked! The decor is intimate and charming and unfussy and the service is attentive and kind. But takeout (or outdoor dining at their little tables out front, with heat lamps!) works too because the dishes are delicious—even my tofu-hating avowed omnivore friend craves their eggplant dish.

The entrées I’ve had skew towards the slightly sweeter side for my palate, but I keep coming back because the flavors are great and the veggies are always fresh and just crisp enough. Lots of faux meats on the menu, but also plenty for those who’d rather go without and still feel sated.

Pros: Lovely ambiance, Generous portion sizes

Delicious food and excellent service

Brought my aunt and uncle from Canada here with my husband for lunch.

Everyone enjoyed their meals, even my 5 year old second cousin.

I would have loved if gf options were labeled as it was a big menu and you had no idea what was and wasn't gf.

I had the raw Thai salad it wasn't anything special bit it was filling.

Had the cheesecake which was the only item listed as gf. It was the best raw crust I've v ever had for a cheesecake, but the filling wasn't cheesecake like st all in taste. Was kinda just a coconut cake. Not bad but not amazing.

My uncle had the basil eggplant and it looked, smelled and tasted delicious (not sure if gf so I just had a small bite).

My aunt and 2nd cousin had the scallion or potato cake (not sure what it was called on the menu), dumplings and Springrolls.

We all had passion fruit iced tea or passion fruit lemonade and it was excellent.

Pros: Extensive menu, Fresh, Reasonable portions

Cons: GF not listed , Cheesecake lacked flavour

Luanne's is the best

Love Luanne's! Best vegan Asian food in the city. Highly recommend if you are looking for a pan-Asian vegan food. It's also near the Brooklyn museum so you can make a whole day of it.

Massive Selection at Great Pricepoint

I came here for a weeknight dinner and was surprised by how large the menu was. This is a great date night spot as the ambience is good and music selection is even better- they played jazz while I was there. Portion sizes are big, and prices are reasonable. In terms of flavor, you get what you pay for. Overall, would definitely recommend as an excellent date night option!

Pros: Large Menu, Great Value, Great ambiance

Asian Vegan in Fort Greene

A good addition to Fort Greene, with tasty vegan food, quick attentive service, and a friendly atmosphere. We came for dinner at LuAnne's Wild Ginger and will return. I see there are lunch deals too. I liked my main, bo bun rice noodles a lot--such a generous serving , there were leftovers for take away. The sauces for all the mains (cilantro , citrus) were full of flavor and not salty; the appetizer veggie tempura was crisp and not oily and also came with a great dipping sauce. There are several veggie-grain bowls on the menu, bi bim bop , and appetizers like silken tofu and BBQ tempeh. LuAnne's has reasonable prices and good service--I had eatenWild Ginger on Broome Street several times . I don't know if the restaurants are related , but this one is much better. No fake meat on the menu here!

Pros: Tasty food, wine, beer , cocktails, Vegan , Quick friendly service
