Pleasantly surprised - Edit
Visited with a non-vegan coworker and happy to see they had some vegan options on the menu. I decided on the chickpea and fennel tagine and it was amazing. I love it when I’m pleasantly surprised!

Although it’s not fully vegan, if you can secure a spot at Lula you should. They have a few options and their staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating.

A new favorite spot! - Edit
We had a wonderful experience at Lula Cafe for my birthday breakfast. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it came to the menu. There are many items on the menu that can be made vegan if they aren’t already. The food tasted deliciously flavorful and was beautifully prepared. We can’t wait to go back again.

Lots of options, helpful staff - Edit
They had a large amount of options for breakfast. A staff member was very helpful and knowledgeable about veganism. She crossed off all options that could not be made vegan (see photo).

Veganized breakfast burrito!! - Edit
If you're looking for a spirit free drink- I HIGHLY recommend the Sunny Sipper. I also highly recommend asking to have their breakfast burrito veganized. It was a very satisfying meal!!

Friendly and vegan friendly - Edit
When I told the server I was vegan, she took my menu and then crossed off everything that couldn't be made vegan and then gave it back to me so I didn't have to do any of the mental work myself. It was super nice of her! Plus the food was great and the vibe was upscale hippy.

Favorite vegan friendly Chicago restaurant - Edit
The soup of the day is always absolutely incredible! It comes with a generous portion of warm house made sourdough bread, and is always vegan.
Read moreThe breakfast burrito can be made vegan at brunch, as well as the tofu scramble.
Chilled satay noodles are lovely.
Chickpea Tagine is so filling and amazing.
Salads are very simply made, but always fresh.
Great coffee with a lot of plant based milk options. You can’t go wrong with an iced oat milk chai here.
Pros: Lots of diverse vegan options

Pre-covid:
Read moreIf you are dining in for breakfast, brunch, lunch, (which you probably aren’t bc of the pandemic) be clear to your sever that you’d like to know everything that can be made vegan and they’re very attentive and helpful about that. There are plenty of options and the energy of the place is great. I’ve been there many times before covid. The only struggle I’ve run into a few times is that their dinner courses often don’t come as a vegan option so make sure to call ahead to see if that is possible.
Post covid: Their new system of ordering days beforehand for an entire brunch/dinner 3 courses is great! I got the dinner option which was only vegetarian and regretted it after but that was my own mistake (there was cheese on one of the courses). The brunch option allows for a vegan option! Very good food 💚

Great for vegans - Edit
Really cute restaurant with lots of delicious sounding food. It gets crowded in the morning, so definitely plan on waiting a little bit. The tofu scramble on the breakfast menu is vegan, and so are some other menu items. The wait staff is knowledgeable about what can ease vegan. Food was tasty flavorful, and coffee was good and strong. The have almond and oat milk for coffee.
