Yum - Edit
Really enjoyable, especially love the Pad Seew Pork (although the "pork" is like a meatball, and not as good as the pork slices they used to use at the Fitzroy location).

Delicious food - Edit
I have been to the other restaurant in Fitzroy many times, but this was my first time here. My friend ordered the Pad Thai and I had the stir fried cashew and tofu with rice. The Pad Thai was good by pretty small, and my dish was really tasty. We added extra chilli as they had no kick.

Special K in the city - Edit
Although I’m a regular at the flagship Madame K’s I rarely make it to this one. The menu is pretty much the same, with a couple of special features like the garlic pepper pork and the lolly-sweet pink soy milk. And OMG! MKV-CBD (as I shall henceforth refer to it) is even cheaper than the Fitzroy version. They’ve painted the space white, covering up the previous Thailand-related cartoon imagery that was in the restaurant originally. It’s pretty close to Southern Cross station and the 86 and 96 trams, which is handy. I associate the place with the l*mb sliders, because I think I’ve had them almost every time (‘cos they’re so damn good). I hadn’t had the nasi goreng in a while, so I chose this and the garlic pepper pork, a MKV-CBD specialty, which I hadn’t had before. True to form the rice dish was delicious and savoury. The pork was also tasty and appetising. Miso eggplant is not quite my thing but it was good for what it was. It’s so good to know there is still one vegan restaurant in the city. Let’s do our part to keep it open.

Great new (but old) vegan lunch spot in town 4 ⭐️
It was great to see that Madame K was doing well enough to open a third restaurant in the city, even if it is only open for lunch. I was doing training in town over two days and took the opportunity to go there on both. The prices were lower than I expected and on the first day I ordered the Pad kapraw moo ($13.90) and on the second the tofu cashew nut stir fry ($13.90), both of which I’d had before at Williamstown and Fitzroy, expecting the meals to be smaller because they were cheaper. To my surprise they were a decent size and delicious with plenty of rice, but while pad kapraw Moo was pleasantly spicy, the sauce in the tofu dish was just a little sweet for my taste (in keeping with much Thai cuisine I’ve experienced). The restaurant was very quiet just after 1pm. I’m glad to have another quality vegan lunch spot in town.
Pros: An actual vegan restaurant , Delicious, super cheap food , Conveniently located

My workplace is moving near there and I’m devastated it isn’t open for lunch.

Yeah what a shame 😕 For years that was the only time I ever went, like if I had a work thing in the city.

The website hours, and the hours on Happycow are very different, for both outlets. The website shows day time hours only for the city, and weekend daytime hours, as well as the nights for Fitzroy. I have emailed them twice about it recently, I received 1 auto response, but no confirmation of hours.

Assumed that to be the case, a pity about the lack of daytime hours though. Thank you.

Big menu, big flavour! - Edit
The duck curry with apple and lychees was a standout! I would not hesitate to order that again, and yet there is so much else to try here.
Read moreThe menu is so big, expect to take some time selecting what you want. They have the usual options (stir fry, noodles) and some really interesting, unusual looking options as well.
I also tried the banana tempura which was delightful. So crispy and fresh (I saw them peeling the banana) with icecream and syrup, less batter-ly than a banana fritter.
Lovely service and good tea selection. Great location in the city. No toilets on site.

Delicious! - Edit
I had the chives cakes which were crispy outside & soft inside, delish sauce with them too. And also the Pad Seew Pork which was so good, tender meaty strips, umami flat noodles & crunchy veg. Service was fantastic too.

Cute little vegan restaurant in the heart of the CBD - Edit
The food was absolutely divine, full of flavour and very morish. Was disappointed to see that some people were provided table service to order, but my table and some others weren’t. Having said that, the staff were still super friendly and helpful. My non-vegan Aunt even remarked at how delicious the food was and that had she not known everything was vegan, she wouldn’t have known otherwise just from eating it.
