Tasty dishes, but way too pricey - Edit
We ordered the lasagna and the tomato rice. Delicious. Unfortunately, the owner's daughter (?), around 9-11 years old, was being the whole time at our table and constantly talking to us. It was annoying. We also had to wait for over an hour for our food to arrive, but no one else was there... For the high price the portions were way too small.

Lovely, tasty restaurant - Edit
Mariposa is such a lovely restaurant and it feels like eating at a friend's place. Don't let the “vegan-vegetarian cuisine” sign confuse you, everything is vegan. One starter, two main courses and one dessert were offered. Everything tasted great and I have the feeling that all visitors had a great, relaxed evening. Outside there are tables on the sidewalk in a quiet street and as the evening went on, more and more tables were added for all guests. Really nice!

Delicious, great ambience - Edit
We‘ve been here on a day trip and we’re looking for some nice vegan place. We are so happy to have found this place. The food is delicious, the house is very old and creates a cozy ambience. We tasted all the main courses and cannot decide which one‘s the best because they were all so different and simply delicious.

Cute and creative - Edit
The small restaurant, which is operated by two ladies working between kitchen and dining room, needs to be booked in advance to ensure seating: There are only three to four tables available in total!
Read moreThe menu includes a choice of three starters, three main dishes, and one dessert item. The menu changes with the season.
Food can take quite some time to be served (up to 60 minutes), but it is obviously made lovingly by hand.
The taste of the food overall was ok (my dish was a little bit too salty, but I may be sensitive). The dishes consisted of a creative combination of mostly seasonal vegetables and were designed in a cute way. The touch and taste of home-made food.

Sublime - Edit
We've eaten in many vegan/vegetarian establishments throughout Europe and United States. To date, this may be one of the best vegan meals we've ever had. As other reviewer's have noted, this is a very tiny place, you are essentially in the owner/cook's house, but this only adds a level of charm that one can't create in any other way. Because everything is made to order, you are insured of exceptionally fresh and very tasty food. What a joy to find such a hidden gem in the old city in Nuremberg.

I loved it. They prepare the food at the moment. It can take some time but it is worthy. Very tasty and fresh. I tried the salad with figs and the cauliflower rice with beans and guacamole. Both were great. 100% recommended. It is a very small place, better to go early or to make a reservation.

Unfortunate let down - Edit
Everything’s about this restaurant was great - the setting, the drinks, the starter, the service - except the main course. Sitting outside the beautiful restaurant I enjoyed a spiced mango lassi followed by a light carrot, bean and vegetable soup. All good. I decided on the sautéed garlic and herb mushrooms with polenta for my main. Unfortunately they were absolutely disgusting and I only forced them down so as not to waste food. They were far too salty and had the texture of small pieces of over- and undercooked potato. To be fair I should say that when I mentioned the issue to the staff, I was graciously given the option to exchange and was ultimately not charged for the meal. However, I don’t think it should have arrived in that state in the first place.

Ate here twice during a recent stay in Nuremburg. The staff were very helpful and genuinely friendly. There were only a few items on the menu however the were really well made and used fresh local ingredients. Wish I could eat here more often

Wonderful find - Edit
Just came back from the most wonderful night at Mariposa. It’s tiny, and takes all night to eat, but that’s because the chef prepares everything fresh right there. We had to sit at the bar as it was packed, and she was explaining the food as she cooked, asking us how we liked the seasoning, and promised if it didn’t fill us up she’d make some more (it filled us up). The owner/chef is a passionate vegan, and the food is a result of a lifelong love of food. It’s rustic, Germanic, and bursting with flavour. Such a cute, friendly place. Highly recommended.

Old-fashioned slow-food vegan dining in intimate setting - Edit
Entering this ground-level establishment is like entering an 1800s stagecoach inn. You are transported to a slower-paced dining experience with country- or peasant-style portions. We enjoyed three different entries: a ground nut burger, risotto with strawberries and asparagus, and a potato and spinach stew. All delicious. The service was a little slow and sporadic: one person’s dish came after a wait then the next person’s dish came 20 minutes later and so on. Still, in exchange for that delay, we were never rushed out. It is a small menu: 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and one dessert- all amazing. We were told the

Everything is wonderful about Mariposa restaurant, the delicious food, the cozy ambience and the service with love that comes from the owner. This isn't a time for rushing or fast food but a time to soak in the best of natural nourishment and the joy of life that radiates from the heart of the owner and shows through in her food. My favorite restaurant in Germany, maybe in the world! We arrived early for lunch and were even treated to a beautiful song with harp playing!

This place is really special. Delicious, hearty, fresh vegan food is cooked right in front of you by the owner / chef / server. The atmosphere is lovely and the food is divine. Try the lentil muffin. Booking is a good idea given the nature of the place - it helps them to know how many they'll be cooking for especially off-season.

Delicious!! - Edit
We were visiting Nürnberg for a few days and picked Mariposa for lunch just before we left the city. And oh god this was so delicious! I had a walnut steak with mashed potatoes and beetroot/apple salad and my small daughters shared a lasagna. All of us cleared the plates in 5mins ;) A must in Nürnberg! Too much salt for my taste but I don’t use salt at home, got used to what food tastes as it is.
