Definitely not the place for an ethical vegan

Vegan and vegetarian options had the same symbol. A giant fridge filled with large chunks of animal carcass directly in the doorway. I was unable to eat here because the glorification of meat made me sick. Perhaps for plant-based people less of an issue, but it definitely didn’t work for me.

A few vegan options, but not the best

Mattacena’s menu uses the same symbol for vegan and vegetarian, so it was a little difficult to figure out what we could and could not eat. Their chef makes fresh pasta was eggs, so most of the pasta dishes are not vegan aside from a spaghetti dish that specified “dried pasta,” the gnocchi, and the risotto (which you would have to order without the Gorgonzola, which our waitress said would probably not be good), and a vegetable tortino. I got the gnocchi which was fine, but not the most flavorful. They do have an English menu, which was helpful. The staff was also very friendly!

Pros: A few vegan options, Friendly staff

Cons: Difficult to discern vegan from vegetarian items, Food was not the greatest

Helpful Staff and some Vegan options

Vegan options included a few pastas - one with mushrooms and gnocchi with broccoli and butternut squash. The gnocchi was the tastiest. There were also a few vegan side dishes e.g. Beans

Pros: Some vegan options

Cons: Symbol for vegan and vegetarian food

Big portions, a good few vegan choices

Traditional Trattoria food.
Vegan choices aren't marked on the menu, but the waitress was well aware and could point them out to us.
We had pasta with mushrooms and ribollita.
Portions for 1 are HUGE, I strongly advise to get half a portion.

Pros: Good number of vegan options, Traditional food

Pretty good

A whole lot of vegan options. A little bland, but there’s salt on the table.

Seemed promising

Clearly marked vegan options on the menu. Avoid the 'vegan tortano' as this was vegetarian and resembled a supermarket veggie burger with a broccoli and dairy cheese bake. Would love to try other traditional Tuscan dishes such as the porcini mushroom pasta. Lovely atmosphere and setting

Pros: Clearly marked vegan and veggie options

Cons: Keep to traditional Tuscan dishes , 'Vegan pie' didn't seem freshly prepared

Cute place, great food!

This is a place where you can eat traditional Tuscany food. It is a small and cute place in Italian style, with kind servers. The menu clearly states what dishes are vegan. There is quite a lot to choose from! Pasta’s, bites, soup...

Pros: Fresh and pure food, Fast service, Nice atmosphere

Great vegan menu

The vegan menu is great -- there's a lot to choose from! The pasta dishes we ordered tasted great, too, but unfortunately my pasta was raw in the middle.

Good for a mixed group but quite expensive

Really enjoyed the food- there was a good mix of traditional Tuscan cuisine with some stuff that pushed the boundaries a bit. I went with someone who is non vegan and she had a vegan starter (the ribollita) which was great. I had the black cabbage pesto pasta which was tasty but the pasta wasn’t fresh (some restaurants make fresh vegan pasta in Florence) and the pie which was tasty!

Pros: Good vegan options , Good for mixed groups, Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive , Pasta not fresh

Good Tuscan Cuisine

Traditional Tuscan cuisine with fresh ingredients, vegan and vegetarian items are clearly marked on menu. The carpaccio di zucchini was great, and the vegan tortino was unique and different from the usual Italian fare.

Pros: Many vegan options , Traditional Tuscan cuisine, Fresh ingredients

Cons: A little touristy
