Good restaurant, better desserts! - Edit
This is a good lunch and dinner restaurant with classic Japanese cuisine. They have a great omurice and curry. The menu is a bit limited but what they have is full of flavour. The desserts are amazing with loads of strawberry’s and tiramisu.

Lots of different small plates! DELICIOUS! - Edit
First of all, this place is super nice. Very spacious and clean. We got the 3 item special set meal. We wanted to try as many different things as possible. We also got the Yuba Omelet Rice too! It’s a lot of fun to try all kinds of new food. The okra, cutlets, and tofu steaks were GREAT. All the veggie dishes were good too. I recommend getting the set and splitting it with someone!

Completely vegan, very nice presentation of the food - Edit
We had a meal set which consisted of several salads, soy "meat" things, a soup, fresh veggies and some sweets. Very lovely.

Healthy balanced meal - Edit
Got a platter with varied tofu dishes, was very tasty and filling.Unfortunately dessert was brought to us before the meal arrived . I chose to keep my dessert until after i had finished my meal which meant it had melted somewhat. Would recommend but maybe just for meal or dessert not both

A MUST GO - Edit
A MUST GO IN KYOTO. We were one week in Kyoto and I liked it so much that I went there two times. You can eat super delicious ice cream, curry, Ramen and a full set menu. I was really happy and after eating you can go to the vintage market that's right under the shop.

Overrated - Edit
I was excited about having dinner at this restaurant with all the good reviews. After ordering the full plater I was disappointed and did not find any of the elements very good. The okara and cutlet seemed to be fried poorly and were very oily and soggy.

Disappointing Dinner - Edit
I was looking forward to dinner here after reading multiple great reviews, however the dinner sets my partner and I both ordered were very disappointing. The ‘meats’ seemed to have been fried in cold oil, leaving them soggy and very oily tasting. The side dishes that were pickled were good, but the rest was very bland or just tasted off. Honestly the best thing on the plate was the white rice. I would recommend going elsewhere while in Kyoto.

Delicious - Edit
We had such a great meal here. The set menus with tofu steak, miso cutlets and fried okara were amazing. We came hungry and left so satisfied. I’d have gone back if we’d had more time in Kyoto. Highly recommend the matcha shake too.

Dinner Set - Edit
Mumokuteki is located upstairs and the restaurant is spacious and modern. The staff speak a little English and there is an English menu. We both ordered set dinners. Each of the dinners contained elements that were fantastic, kind of bland, and not so great. I suspect this is purely I “taste” perspective.

Fav restaurant in Kyoto - Edit
Hands down my fav place in Kyoto, the sets are incredible, so much flavour & food in one meal. I loved all the tiny dishes you got with each set. The Omurice was the best food I had in Japan I went two days running cause it was so good.

Could be better - Edit
It’s a convenient location but for a little more effort there are better places. Folks rave about the miso cutlets but they were fair at best. We tried their ice cream and tiramisu but we wish we didn’t.
