Good restaurant, better desserts! - Edit
This is a good lunch and dinner restaurant with classic Japanese cuisine. They have a great omurice and curry. The menu is a bit limited but what they have is full of flavour. The desserts are amazing with loads of strawberry’s and tiramisu.

Great food, nice ambiance, friendly staff - Edit
I enjoyed the coffee and food, both were top notch. Food was a bit more expensive than what I usually go for. I had a Japanese vegan platter with a soup, a rice dish and a few sides and also had a soy latte to kick things off. All were perfect. The food was an experience. I did leave the place still feeling that I was at least 400 Kcal short of meeting my caloric needs. I am not a large eater and am normally more than satisfied with a one course meal.

Pretty good, but could be better - Edit
I liked the hambagu and fried meat but the "obanzai" side dishes were very mid (compared to any temple food side dishes). The omurice was okay but we've had better ones too. Desserts and drinks were nice.

Abbiamo preso l'uovo, era buono ma me lo aspettavo un po' diverso. Il sapore di uovo non assomigliava all'originale.

Modern Japanese - Edit
I was delighted when I first entered this restaurant. It felt very Japanese, like the places I remember from my youth, when I spent a lot of time in Japan. Unlike most vegan restaurants, it's large, so you're almost certain to get a table. I really liked the teishoku I had, although I found the sauces to be overly strong and not at all like the sauces I remember on these types of dishes from before I was vegan. The karaage was my favourite, partly because it does not come with sauce. If I go again, that's what I will have.
Read moreI did not like the omuraisu. It did not taste or look like the omuraisu that I remember from before going vegan, and it was covered in an overwhelming brown sauce. I'm guessing that the restaurant made up this totally un-Japanese sauce to satisfy all the tourists who complain about Japanese food being "bland".
The service was cold and unfriendly. The server we had on our second visit looked depressed about having to serve us. I was surprised to see her smile at another server later. In the end, at this type of restaurant, you're seen as just another tourist. It doesn't matter if you never come back because there will be many more like you.
Despite this negative-seeming review, I will be back when I'm next in Kyoto. While the food may not be totally authentic, the atmosphere is, and the karaage was superb.

Nice easy lunch - Edit
Pretty good lunch spot located above the store of the same name (store is not vegan). Had some noodles and a beer. The Fuji beer was delicious and memorable. Food was exactly what I expected, which was good.

Would't call it amazing..(maybe it's just acquired taste..) - Edit
I wanted to like this more, but tbh some of the current side dishes I just didn't understand taste-wise. "Crispy potato" was bit of a strange sour, potato-salad. There were olives in one of dishes which I thought just didn't really match.. The bean/carrot salad definitely had potential but as it is it was rather bland.
Read moreThe curried potato/pumpkin was nice, as were the fruit cubes, the miso soup, the rice, ginger mix, and the main burgers/soy meat (we tried all three of them). The dessert (tiramisu and parfait) was actually quite tasty.
Service was fine.

Nice food, okay-ish service - Edit
The yuba omurice was interesting and tasty, and we really liked the karaage, burger patty, and katsu. The service, however, was a bit disappointing, the waitress seemed unbothered and only came to take our order when it was last call, even though we had tried twice to get her attention earlier. For dessert, the tiramisu was good, but the soft serve was meh.

It was not that cosy, the waitress was not too kind. The food did not taste homemade, but overall okay. Overpriced in my opinion.

Bland and overpriced. Stay away! - Edit
I'm surprised this place has such high scores. Is the food inedible? No. Is it good? Also no. Taste was below average and for the price point unacceptable. The ramen has no tofu or other ingredients, there are like 3 sad small mushrooms and the rest is just noodles. As for their deep fried dishes, it also tastes bland. Store bought frozen vegan nuggets have more flavor. The price does not match the quality here.

Every bite was perfection! - Edit
The food here is absolutely delicious! The meal set is amazing, with so many different flavours that our taste buds had a feast. This restaurant would have to be the best vegan food we’ve had in Japan. We wish we had stayed longer in Kyoto so we could go every day to try all the dishes on their menu.

Fantastic meal - Edit
I went for the tofu hamburger and soy cutlet set where pretty much all parts were 10/10. The only thing I didn't finish was the soup as was too strong a flavour for me.

Great omurice! - Edit
I really liked the omurice here! Wasn’t sure about getting it and I’m glad I went for it and gave it a try. It’s definitely not ketchup-like for the Americans who might be wondering if it’s a good idea to try and combine these things. I got it as a set with the salad.
Read moreMy partner got a cutlet set, and it looked beautiful, but also had a lot of pickled/fermented elements to it in the vegetables. These weren’t bad, but I was initially super jealous of his meal - not so much after I tried some of the sides. The dishes weren’t bad, and they do have flavor, but it’s a more delicate flavor and relies a lot on pickled flavors. If that’s your thing, you might like it a lot! I don’t mind it, but prefer if it’s a smaller part of the set. I might return to try the seasonal steamed vegetable set though!
Pros: Tasty omurice, Nice atmosphere , Authentic and creative food
Cons: Some dishes may not align with western tastes

The food was good but not as great as I expected from the reviews. I had the miso cutlet set. Two of the dishes had no flavor, the others were good, especially the miso cutlet. Servers weren’t all that friendly.

We really enjoyed the location and the prices are okay - 2500 yen for a quite filling meal with lots of different things to try. We liked the main parts but didn't LOVE it.
