Great food and very nice staff. We had 3 streetfood 'snacks' and one main to share with 2 at the medium spice level, all were tasty. Do try the (free) spicy pickles if you like it spicy.

An average experience - Edit
I left feeling this restaurant feeling slightly disappointed. The reviews I had read before visiting gave me such high hopes. Whilst the food was nice it definitely wasn’t as tasty as I had hoped for. Not the flavours I would have expected from an Indian meal. I asked for medium heat but the spice of the food was minimal. I wish I had asked for spicier.
Read moreThe lady who took my order was very polite and friendly but unfortunately left halfway through my meal. A gentleman (maybe the owner) then took over serving me. I don’t know what it was exactly but I got weird vibes from him and I got the impression other guests felt uncomfortable too. Maybe just me but I have to be honest. There weren’t many people in the restaurant but he seated people unnecessarily close to each other. Once eaten he asked politely if I could pay with cash to which I explained I only have card. He told me cash would be better as it’s a small business but I had already told him by this point I could only pay with my card. Also before taking my initial order I showed my covid pass yet he still asked for proof of identification. Is that normal process? Apologies if so but I’ve never had to show ID to order food before.
So overall the experience was a little odd and unfortunately the food didn’t make up for it.
Pros: Fully vegan menu
Cons: Strange vibes

Literally life changing - Edit
I visited this place a few years ago on Christmas eve. I went there as it was the only place that evening serving real dinner that was open. I was just looking for something to eat so I could go back home, but I ended up having one of the most delicious meals of my life. In fact, the food there was so good, it is what got the ball rolling for me to go vegan a few months down the road.
Read moreSince I don't live in the Grand Duchy, I have been to many Indian restaurants trying to replicate the experience I had there, but so far I have been unable to. I don't visit the country often, but next time I am around, I am certainly eating there again.

spicy!!! - Edit
I had the 'plat du jour', it was rice with lentils (daal) and pakora. It was really good but I asked for a 'high' spice level since I read somewhere that someone ordered medium and it wasn't spicy. Just letting you guys know I suffered through the meal haha, it was waaaay too spicy. Coming from a Korean that is used to spicy food - this was a bit of a torture. But my own fault since I asked for a high spice level. I'm having stomach ache now (the day after) so I would recommend eating medium spicy even if you are used to spicy food! Other than that it was really nice, my boyfriend's dish (vegetable curry) wasn't very special but not bad either. would come back for sure.

Good not great, but very vegan - Edit
Vegan chai, vegan lassi, lots of dishes to choose from and everything is vegan. Very friendly and accommodating owner, offered free juice since the food preparation took longer than expected, offered water for a customer’s dog, etc. Describes himself as “hardcore vegan” - even the bottled fruit juice is certified vegan, because he worries about refined sugar and other such micro-ingredients. He doesn’t mind if you bring your own snacks in, but objects if you bring in anything that is not vegan. Sign on the door says not to wear fur inside. Etc.
Read moreChoose your own spice level on the food. Lots of warnings about how spicy it is but I ordered it medium and it wasn’t spicy at all.

Passionate vegan owner + home-cooked-style Indian food= Vegan Heaven - Edit
Nirvana clearly is more than cafe. Though I only got to visit once, I could really see how the owner used Indian cooking to promote compassion to all. Even in the vegan world, it’s rare to see someone stand by their principles even if it means loosing money. When I came in, I had a vegan cheesecake in a box and the owner asked me to confirm if it was vegan, because it was really important to him that the cafe was as free from animal cruelty as possible. He also had a 10% discount for students on the already fair prices. After a wonderful meal of authentic Indian food served with loads of soy yoghurt to cool the spice, I even got a free piece of chocolate cake to take away + he offered to pack the food I couldn’t finish to avoid food waste. Really, this lunch made my day! Thank you very much to the wonderful team at Nirvana.

Almoço - Plat du jour - Edit
É nossa segunda vez no Nirvana.
Recomendo!

Great waiter - Edit
Very kind waiter! And the food is super good and not expensive. They care especially well for students, giving a 10 percent discount and going out of their way to give the lunch deal even during dinner service for them. I cant really point out a favourite dish because it was all good. Maybe the lassi was just simple yoghurt with mango taste. Not really the way lassi tasted like in my memory, maybe not airy enough.

I visited Nirvana just after gardens outside the restaurants have been opened, we were last guests on that day. We orderded vegetable pakora and the dish of the day, dispayed on the photos. So good! Also we took samosas to go. When we paid the staff offered us two portions of the food that left which was very kind!😄

So cheap and so delicious - Edit
I used to go there litterally all the time as a student because the buffet was so cheap (8€ approx.); it's basically an all you can eat with rice, delicious fried vegetables (the oignion ones are a blessing), lentils curry, chickpeas and veggies. Staff is very friendly and the place is very relaxing to study or read. Unfortunately the buffet part has closed because of Covid (what a shame!!) but they have a menu with more elaborate dishes that are worth a try!
