A restaurant located next to the monument of Jakuchu at the west entrance of Nishiki Market. Sells tofu and runs a restaurant serving tofu dishes. The restaurant only serves set menus for lunch including seasonal dishes and a la carte dishes; mainly tofu hamburger steak, okara croquette, and mapo tofu and soy milk hotpot. Also sells tofu, Kyoto age, silken tofu, soy milk, namafu, hirousu, okara, etc. Open Mon-Sun 10:30am-6:00pm.

Nishiki Soya - Edit
The staff told me these are not fried in beef and that they are vegan. Maybe ask on the day that you go, perhaps it depends on the day. It was nice to have a little protein snack while visiting the market.

Tasty fried tofu - Edit
The fried tofu was OK. Fried, oily and salty.
Read moreIt would be a better experience if the tofu wasn’t served on a piece of styrofoam plastic with aluminium foil.

Incredible tofu - Edit
We got the fried tofu and it was SO delicious. Unlike any tofu I’ve had in the US. A must try if you’re visiting Nikishi!

The only tofu in Nishiki Market - Edit
At the end of our visit we found this shop, the only one that serves tofu. The fried tofu was tasty, but the dough was was a little to raw. Nevertheless a great shop that is unfortunately little visited.
