Lovely staff and delicious food - Edit
There was a huge choice of salads and sandwiches, as well as some desserts and drinks. I had a yogini salad which was a huge portion, and an alkaline water. The lady who served me was really friendly and chatty.

10/10 across all fronts! - Edit
After 8 years of regularly going to Peace Cafe, I can attest it is the hill to die on for vegan food!! Across all fronts: service, quality food, full vegan menu availability, atmosphere it’s 10/10 in my books! Across they years I’ve tried quite a few of their dishes but theres a few I keep going back for: the katsu plate katsu curry, peace plate, yogini, and peace sampler are my go-tos - with their tempeh katsu being my all time fave! They also offer rotating specials and a variety of other sandwiches and desserts which I love! Parking can be tricky but it’s so worth it!

Unique dishes, so-so taste, big no no with alkaline water BS - Edit
Was very excited to see a fully vegan tempeh katsu curry, my favorite dish. It was passable; the tempeh katsu was excellent but the curry itself was so so, and the rice was too wet and a bit mushy. Salad a bit underdressed. Several other awesome looking Asian dishes I'd love to try, such as a katsu mapo tofu.
Read moreThey have many signs saying they don't serve tap water as it "oxidizes the body and is unsafe", which is not only complete BS and unsupported by evidence, but also contributes to the disinformation supporting the capitalistic scam of selling people alkaline water when it really doesn't do anything. Cut that [censored] out.

Had the tofu katsu plate and a blueberry smoothie. Amazing, filling portions! So much food!

Best food I’ve tried in Hawaii - Edit
We got the katsu curry, katsu mapo tofu, katsu sandwich, and hanoi sandwich. The hanoi sandwich was my absolute favorite! The katsu tofu was also delicious in my opinion, my partner didn’t care for the amount of breading the tofu had though. The curry and mapo tofu were also flavored really well

No Peace Cafe - Edit
I ordered the Popeye sandwich, which is fried tofu and spinach with miso tahini paste, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, clover sprouts, and homemade aioli. The sandwich was good, but the experience was not. Not only did we wait a long time for our food, but the owner's (?) child was playing a video game so loudly it sounded like we were in a casino. The cafe promotes alkaline water and refuses to serve tap water. I was also disappointed the food is wrapped to go even if you're dining in.

Whole food vegan cafe - Edit
Good healthy vegan food. Loved that all containers were compatible too. Although my paper straw fell victim to the delicious strawberry smoothie.I highly recommend this cafe.

Great Cafe Option For A Vegan - Edit
This cafe offers many different foods for the vegan eater. My fiancés sandwich he says it was extremely yummy! 4/5! I rated this restaurant a 3/5 due to my tofu scramble with toast option as it was lacking flavour. Otherwise I would give 5 stars as well. Thanks for having this place for us vegans!

Being a little lenient but.. - Edit
Peace Cafe:
Read moreGreat service
Food to table: reasonable/quick
Dining: nice mood and positive atmosphere, very vibrant, cheerful decor
Food: BBQ TEMPEH sandwich $15: if I could define “vegan food”- this would be it. Good portion size, pretty filling, they do the tempeh well, adding their own spice and twist on it. It’s not crazy flavorful enough that I can stack up against my favorites, but is still good and worth the try.
Blueberry smoothie (20oz) $12: typical (good)- only slightly less enjoyable due to straw. But that’s partly not their fault
Strawberry cheesecake $7.50: not practical to eat right out of the fridge (frozen solid), after thawing: might be the best part of the meal. 2nd best cheesecake I’ve tried. I liked the bottom layer since it was nutty and added to the taste of the rest.
Price: Reasonable
Parking: Great in comparison to most I’ve been to.
(1st world problem) Could invest in bigger straws, the smoothie was hard/odd to drink through the thin paper straws, seems to be a common trend when I’ve ran into paper straws
Very good, not great, but definitely a little better than fair to me in my humble opinion.
Will try to revisit again in the future😄
Pros: Peace cafe specific variety, Service (workers/food to table), Parking/Decor
Cons: The straw dilemma, Readiness of cold/preserved desserts

Yes I Agree my cheesecake took awhile to thaw but once it did it was a bit better. Very subtle flavour.

Huge katsu - Edit
I wasn’t expecting the katsu tofu curry to be so big but it could probably feed a couple of people if you want to cut down on costs. Very friendly service but slow (took 30mins mid-afternoon when a small rush came in). Katsu was tasty! YULU lemonade also very nice…like old-fashioned homemade. Cute little cafe on a busy road.

Friendly staff, OK food, run down restaurant - Edit
The staff were very friendly here, and the food looked amazing, yet unfortunately it tasted just OK, it needs more flavor and hot food should be served HOT, both our Katsu dishes were served at almost room temperature. The space is in serious need of a good thorough cleaning and remodel. The walls, floor etc. are stained with years of dirt.
Read morePros: Friendly staff
Cons: "Hot food" was served at room temperature., Building is old and dirty.

Strange comment re: the condition of the place. Here a day after you and I would never think to view this place as “stained with years of dirt”. Not true!
Read moreRichards_E.C.
In my opinion, I didn’t notice any of the dirtiness that you mention- they could’ve fixed it since the time that you visited, could be perception too. I can agree with the taste, like I got the BBQ tempeh and it could’ve been more bbq like either a buffalo or standard A1 to boost it- but I still personally think it’s worth the try as a vegan, but if I were to bring a non-vegan friend, I feel as though they would get a new taste, but wouldn’t be impressed or think it’s their favorite food lol

Vegan Treat - Edit
Love this cafe! We tried several different items. I liked or loved them all. The only thing I probably wouldn’t order again is the sampler platter, it was pretty boring. It was mostly just piles of ingredients, like a deconstructed salad of some sort. Their BBQ sauce is odd, but surprisingly tasty. It’s not really a sauce, it’s like tomato past in texture and color.
Read moreMy two favorite things by far were the Katsu (the breading on it is outstanding!) and the Matcha Mochi Sesame brownie things.

Great options + big portions - Edit
I got the katsu curry with tempeh and it was so good! It came with a side salad and mixed brown and black rice. My only complaint would be that the breading was super thick and there was more breading than tempeh. It was also over $20 but they do give pretty big portions. Overall I would love to come back and try more options on their menu!

BEST SMOOTHIES EVER!!! - Edit
All vegan menu, I got the Tofu Katsu sandwich and my partner got a poké bowl, both were fantastic, but the highlight was the strawberry smoothie- it was the best smoothie I've ever had in my life. Seriously, I wish I had their recipe! Staff was very nice and welcoming, the vibe is great, and the food was awesome with huge portions. Also if I remember correctly they offer a Kama'āina discount here too.

Lots of good options here! We had the tofu katsu curry and the tofu poke, along with the yuzu lemonade and kinako latte. The katsu was crispy on the outside and well flavored. The poke bowl was also well flavored. The kinako (soybean powder) latte was delicious and nutty!
Read moreEach plate had a heaping of food and greens. 2 entrees are likely enough for 3 people! Just under $50 for food and drinks.

Cons: Onion heavy dishes, especially the poke
