Very good breakfast - Edit
The chick'n and waffles were good...underseasoned and missing a trick to bring the flavor profile forward, but a solid choice. I personally feel a large service charge added for staff insurance is a bit much. I'd rather this cost be included in the price of the food itself and not as an extra charge.

Excellent choice for vegans and omnis - Edit
My omni fiance brought me here and we had an AMAZING meal. We ordered the calamari and it was amazing despite me (vegan) not liking mushrooms.
Read moreIt encouraged me to try the chicken bowl and I will say it was a little too much of the same fried mushrooms but I was so full at that point anyway. The beans and rice weren’t super spicy but I am addicted to hot sauce so that’s on me.
My fiance got the burger and I was making fun of him for picking something so basic but it was PHENOMENAL and the right call. I would have switched with him if I could. If you’re the kind of vegan that doesn’t like things to actually taste meaty you definitely should not order it.
We ended the meal by sharing the cheesecake despite being soo full, and it was amazing and worth it.
We got a Reuben to go and I haven’t tried it yet but it did smell so good. It was worth the try after the burger turned out so good.
Pros: Burger , Calamari, Cheesecake

Pretty good but not for the price - Edit
The food here is pretty good, but it's not amazing. They really need to remember to put more sauerkraut on their Rubens. Mac and cheese is okay. Not worth the price though

We took a weekend trip to Seattle from Portland and had lunch at Plum Bistro the first day. We loved it so much we went back for brunch the following day. This is a restaurant we go to whenever we are in town. Try it!!

Best mac and cheese ever - Edit
Best mac and cheese I've had since going vegan 10 years ago. Devastated I'll need to travel back to Seattle to experience it again.
Read moreAlso had the crispy chicken bowl which was really tasty but that mac and cheese was life changing.
They close exactly when they say they will so don't expect to be served if you show up 5 minutes prior to closing. I called like 25 minutes prior for pickup and had no issues.
Pros: Mac and cheese, Mac and cheese, Mac and cheese
Cons: They're only in seattle, I can't eat their mac and cheese everyday , I don't know how to make their mac and cheese

Best pasta I’ve ever eaten - Edit
Excellent menu choices. We had the Mac and cheese which was very creamy and seasoned well. We had the salad bowl which had an amazing mustard aioli, the charred broccolini which was perfectly cooked (still crunchy) and super buttery and garlicky. Best dish was by far the crispy eggplant and rigatoni, the sauce, the lemon arugula and the eggplant parmigiana itself was amazing. I’d go back and eat just that!

Incredible! - Edit
The food, ambience and service were all incredible. Highly recommend the calamari appetizer and the carne asada. Had to beg for them to take the food from the table so we could save room for desert.

Good food but too loud - Edit
I was there with a group of seven people. The food was excellent. I especially enjoyed the reuben, although one half was too messy to pick up and had to eaten with a knife and fork. I'm subtracting points for two things. One, the music was so loud that I couldn't hear the conversation; I don't know why restaurants think they need to set the audio level so high. Second, I don't like the policy of adding an automatic 20% "service fee" to help the entire staff. It wasn't clear to any of us whether our (excellent) server would get his fair share, or if we needed to tack on some more to be sure he was rewarded. Just raise the prices if you want to compensate all the staff properly.

Great service - Delicious food - High cost - Edit
The service and atmosphere were the best parts of this restaurant. The food was very good as well and there were many options. That said - as many noted in earlier reviews, it’s very expensive. The service fee on top of the prices, which didn’t include a tip for the server felt quite excessive and costly for the type of food. As tasty as it was, on principle, I won’t go back. I’d rather get more for my money elsewhere.

Disappointment - Edit
I have been convinced to go here quite a few times over the last 10 years. Never once have I been satisfied with the meal. The bill is the nail in the coffin, I have been to vegan fine dining restraunts across the country and none have prices as high as plum bistro. Not sure how they managed to convince people they are fine dining, the quality of the food is akin to a greasy spoon dinner you might see on kitchen nightmares. Not sure how they managed to get and keep their reputation if they have been this bad over a decade now.

Plum pretty much sets the bar for local vegan fare, it's just the best. If you go for brunch, try the blueberry lemon pancakes.

Tasty vegan food - Edit
We got the burrito, fries, and mac and yease as takeout and enjoyed everything. It felt a little expensive for what you get, but I'm guessing maybe you are also paying for the ambiance of the restaurant, which we didn't experience. (We took our takeout to a brewery so we could eat with our dog.)

Excellent food! - Edit
I took an omni friend with me to dinner here and everything we ordered was great. We started with roasted cauliflower and yam soup, which was very tasty. I then had the eggplant parmesan and she had the general Tso’s cauliflower bowl. Both of these dishes were also very good. My friend really enjoyed the meal and said she would happily come back with friends.
Read moreWarning: The restaurant adds on a 20% “service charge.“ They make it a point to tell you that this service charge is not the tip. Only part of the service charge goes to the waiter and if you are going to tip 20%, then you need to add another 10% to the bill, for a total of 30% on top of the food prices. That makes a plate of their eggplant Parmesan $42.50 with service.

What happened to this place? - Edit
This place has always been more of a special occasion kinda deal, due to the price point. But at some point the food quality matched the price point (it’s seattle I guess).
Read moreWent back recently after a long gap and our usuals we’re just not it. The burger patty recipe changed, because now it tastes exactly like impossible/beyond (despite it being labeled homemade). Not interested in paying $25 for an impossible burger (correct me if I’m wrong). Their Ruben — which was always my favorite— was bland.
Doubt we’ll head back any time soon; hard to justify spending $50 per person for just average food. Seattle still hurting for a decent vegan spot.

Best Salad Evah! - Edit
My review is based entirely on this one salad I had - picked up from the lunchtime To-Go "Chopped" side, from a friend and delivered to me. I have not been to this establishment - YET! I ordered the Take Me On Tour salad, which is chef Makini's take on Caesar Salad, and OMG, this was as close to the salty, piquant, and umami flavors that were the best parts of a Caesar salad enjoyed by me pre-vegan. There's some olives, crumbled fried tempeh, and just a little vegan parmesean. This salad was dreamy, and I am now on a mission to try everything on her menu.

Never Again! - Edit
If I could give zero stars, I would. This place gets 4 Strikes... 1.) They don't offer paper menus and our only option was to use that dumb QR code on the table. My phone was dead so I had to wait until my friend was done then use his phone. 2.) they served our appetizer on one of those disgusting rectangular silver prison cafeteria trays. Such a bad presentation. Give your customers a damn plate! 3.) When I handed the waiter my plate and politely ask 'can you wrap this to go?', he took off then returned and tossed a to-go box on the table for me to DO IT MYSELF. If waitstaff want to be tipped, then do your job and wrap up your customers food! Such a bad trend in restaurants these days. 4.) when we got the bill, we saw that they automatically added a 20% Service charge that 'helps to ensure our entire value service team receives competitive industry compensation and access to benefits'. In our case, they added $22 to our bill to pay for benefits for their employees which they should be doing themselves. Total bill for the two of us - 2 entrees, 2 non alcoholic drinks, 1 aptz served on a prison cafeteria tray - $142! Also, the purple potatoes were dry as a bone and absolutely gross. Their entrees are around $33 and NOT worth it. We didn't tip the server after they added that ridiculous fee! AVOID THIS PLACE!
