Beautiful texture - Edit
I was really impressed with the bun. The owner heated it up for me and the texture was beautiful. It was different from a Bao bun, which I thought it would be similar to. Overall, I would go back to try the other flavors.

Apparently only sweet buns - Edit
Went in today (Nov 2022) and for vegan options they only had sweet/desert buns, no salty/savory. From what I could understand, they weren't just out but no longer make non-sweet vegan buns (there were savory shrimp, pork, etc. ones), but I could be wrong. I didn't try the sweet buns so can't comment on the taste but they look good.

Bao! - Edit
Delicious bao (steam buns) with a few veg options. The store carries many varieties of steam buns, frozen but not as fresh as it could be but still tasty!

UPDATE: unclear about which are actually vegan, also not @ Maya Mall? - Edit
2019: Still a bit confused at which buns are vegan - as some are labelled เจ (vegan in Thai), but then I think some buns that haven’t been labelled still are? I guess ask. Definitely go for the filled buns rather than the mantou - which are super boring in comparison! Best flavour is charcoal almond for sure, yuuum.
Read more2017: Was keen for some sweet pandan filled buns but alas they only had 4 kinds of "jay" buns which were savoury and TBH were all quite similar in taste and texture (albeit yum), but I would've been satisfied with 2.
All were some variation of a fried shiitake mixture plus either a tiny bit of: taro, veggies, baby bamboo, or more mushroom. I thought the bao bread was nice and soft, perhaps a tad too thin. Good snack if you're on the go.
NOTE - I also looked for this place high and low at Maya Mall, I couldn't find it? (Definitely not on level 4 at least)
Pros: cheap, tasty, friendly staff
Cons: Unclear which buns are vegan, not a great atmosphere/seating area

Simple and nice. - Edit
Simple place with a huge selection of vegan and non vegan baos. Staff was friendly but barely speak english so some thai knowledge would definitely be recommended. Reasonable prices - good quality.

Nice soft buns - Edit
I had one savory bun which I did not like but that is mostly because of the spices used. The coconut custard bun and the black sesame bun are great. The dough is really soft.

Yummi steamed buns - Edit
Very yummi soft buns with different sweet or savoury fillings. The stuff is very friendly. If you want, they'll steam the buns for you in a few minutes. There is one table to sit down, but you can also get the buns in a take away bag. The vegan buns have the circled "jay" sign on the left side. (Take a look at my pictures.)

Vegetarian savoury buns!! - Edit
We tried the sweet taro bun that tasted a lot like pandan and three savoury buns - one with mixed mushrooms, one with bamboo shoots and mushrooms and one with mixed veggies and mushrooms. They might sound all the same but in each bun they used spices and herbs that make them all different so, if I remember correctly, the first tasted like spices (especially like cloves and cinnamon), the second like pepper and the third like celery. (Feel free to correct me if I made a mistake, it took me one week to write the review so I'm starting to forget)

Very nice snack - Edit
I loved the mushroom/bamboo and fried taro ones. Unfortunately they did not have many savoury vegan buns left. The sweet ones aren’t as delicious because they have no filling.

Good (and not deep fried) snack - Edit
The man behind the counter was very nice pointing out the veg options for me. I ended up selecting the shiitake bun which had a nice savory flavor, and also a banana and taro bun neither of which were too sweet. The seating is limited as it appears to be more of a carryout place but overall a good spot to get some snacks.

Awesome dessert or snack - Edit
I love this place. Staff is friendly and helpful. When you ask for "jay" they show you around and point at the vegan buns. Price is between 10-20/25 baht per bun. They steam them within 5 mins and you can eat them at the restaurant or take them home. You can also buy them without being steamed and heat them up in a microwave for 30 secs at home. You can buy drinks there as well. It was nice to go there with friends who also eat meat and cheese and stuff.

good buns - Edit
Tasty buns in many flavous, both salty and sweet. Quite a few are vegetarian. They are freshly steamed (5 minutes) and you get them in a paper bag to go but can eat them on a chair also. Location is not 100% exact on the happy cow map, look for the happy dumpling signs, you'll find them.

Amazingly fluffy buns! - Edit
If you like dim sum buns, the fluffy light as a cloud type, then you should try these! They have vegi flavours, as well as plain buns, which are amazing to mop up curry...you can ask for them un-heated and take them home to steam yourself.
Read morereally cheap 15 baht for most buns.
Pros: great buns, cheap
Cons: no seats to eat in

Great Steamed Vegan Buns - Edit
Just opened. Very clean. Vegan Buns are kept in a different case from buns that contain animal flesh. All buns are labelled with English and Thai cards. Just point at the buns you want and they are steamed up for 5 minutes. Eat there or take away. A couple of very basic tables. They don't serve any drinks and unfortunately don't offer any sauce for the buns (soy, garlic chilli oil etc). Immaculately clean with very nice friendly staff and owner.
Very easy to find facing the moat with a large picture banner of a steamed bun on top of the building.
Pros: Delicious, Vegan, best selection of buns in chang mai
Cons: No sauces
