Unique small plates - Edit
Not the biggest selection of vegan options but the menu had some really innovative vegan small plates and sides. Everything was tasty and the portions were bigger than expected. The vegan scallops made with celeriac were a stand out!

Such a great experience in Porto. Not many vegan options - the main was cauliflower steak which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The side of tomato rice was rich and delicious and the side of veg were flavoursome. A starter of bread with olive tapanade was great too. Really lovely atmosphere and building with friendly staff. Highly recommend.

We had the bread with olive oil (extra virgin) and the vegetables with garlic wäre really tasty. As main dish I had the cauliflower steak with a perfect creamy coconut sauce 😍

Llegamos a Oporto bastante tarde, de forma que la mayoría de restaurantes con opción vegana/vegetariana estaban cerrados. Elegimos La Raíz por proximidad y fue todo un acierto. Si bien la oferta vegana es escasa, la oferta vegetariana es más que satisfactoria con platos muy elaborados y la atención al cliente es muy buena.

Thanks to previous customers I’ve decided to have dinner at this restaurant! The food is soooooo good! I’ve started from bread plate and olive oil and I should confess I’ve never ever tried such a tasty bread! I was sitting next to the window and invited people browsing the menu on the street. They came and later on thanked me for helping them make the right decision! Tomato rice is crazy tasty. Portobello mushroom is a kind of salad, great for those who love green leaves. I asked to a second bread plate! Looking forward to come back today and taste potato and deserts. I was super full for £13

Read moreTwo of us are vegetarian and were pleasingly surprised to see that Raiz offers several petiscos for vegetarians. We shared an amazing brie and vegetarian burger. Absolutely delicious.
The place was a bit dark, and sometimes it was barely possible to see the colors of our food, but it does give an atmosphere. :)
Staff was absolutely lovely!
Pros: Friendly staff, The strawberry and almond brie, More vegetarian options than other veggie friendly

I tried this place for dinner with people who are not vegetarian. They were very satisfied and me too. A few vegetarian options, filling and tasty. Very friendly service too!

The staff is teally helpful - they can make most vegetarian dishes vegan, the tomato rice and bread are to die for. Vegan/ vegetarian options are pretty inexpensive too.
