delicious menu, abundant portions - Edit
I’ve been going to red lentil for many years. It’s a staple veg restaurant in the Boston area. I don’t think you can miss on any of the menu items. Everything is delicious! A couple of favorites include Gobi Manchurian and nachos (request vegan). Also love their brunch! Most things are either vegan or can be prepared vegan if requested.
Read moreReservations available for parties of 6 or more. The AC can be cold, so I recommend you wear layers. 🙂 As expected, lunch prices are a bit more affordable than dinner but both are reasonable.

Best Vegan in Cambridge - Edit
Today I had brunch at Red Lentil for the first time. The dining area is quaint - tight but clean. The waffles were well cooked, light with a tasty syrup substitute. The tofu scramble was the best I’ve eaten…anywhere. Well seasoned, textured and flavorful.

Food was average. If taking price into consideration, food was slightly below average. Left much to be desired.

Casual atmosphere, upscale food - Edit
OMG the oyster mushroom calamari! Don't miss it. Portions are huge. We had skipped lunch driving here, and we ate it all. Impressive beer and wine list too. The menu is large, and many/most things seemed vegan. I wish they would switch over to all-vegan and wonder why places like this don't. Takeout orders seemed continuous. Armenian-Greek neighborhood is full of life. They now have a 2nd location in Sharon.

Very good - Edit
I’ve been going to this place for years. It is always good. The oyster mushroom calamari are very yummy. Service can be slow so plan extra time to wait to sit & eat.

No meat served here and anything that isn't vegan can be made vegan! I recommend the gobi manchurian appetizer and the shepard's pie. Lots of great food with huge portions so don't let the prices scare you away.

YUM! - Edit
I love Red Lentil!! Been going here for a few years now and the food is always so wonderful. Some of my favorites are the oyster mushroom calamari, the gobi manchurian, the waffles, and the benedict florentine. Everything here can be made vegan. The deserts are listed on a chalk board inside the restaurant and they change sometimes but they are also delicious! Everything I've had here is good and I look forward to trying more of their delicious options.

Wonderful, especially for brunch - Edit
I love love love Red Lentil. The vegan French toast and Benedict Florentine (made vegan) are my go-tos, but I've enjoyed all the brunch items I've had there. Their cakes and smoothies are tasty too. I'm a little less enthusiastic about their dinner menu, but have never been disappointed.

Promising but didn’t deliver - Edit
The service at Red Lentil was great, but sadly the food was underwhelming. The paella was bland and watery, and the Jamaican jerk tempeh was equally disappointing. The yams were slightly undercooked, the coleslaw and Brussels sprouts lacked flavor, and it overall did not live up to expectations. It’s possible other menu items would taste better.

Unique and Delicious Meal - Edit
We were seated right away. The service and food was excellent. The dishes were unique in that they weren’t your typical vegan options, which I very much appreciated. It had a bright and warm atmosphere. My only critique is the tables were close together, but that honesty didn’t bother me much.

I am in food heaven! - Edit
Holy (Happy) Cow all! This restaurant was just beyond words. Truly everything I would want in a restaurant. The oyster mushroom calamari appetizer was amazing. We had a friday special African peanut soup which was so rich and tasty. I had the roasted vegetable vegan ravioli and my husband had the paella. We finished with a passion fruit mousse that was sweet and creamy. Add to that a wine, beer and “other” list just makes this meal feel like an experience. A must try for anyone in the area.

Red Lentil is wonderful for dine-in or take-out. Very nice little restaurant with plenty of space between about ten tables. The staff are courteous and helpful. We love a lot of their menu items but the vegan ice cream is the best around!

Ordered food to be delivered for a small party of 10 people, most of whom are animal eaters. Quantity was HUGE. Price is reasonable. Food was delicious: French Toast, Pancakes, Shepherd's Pie, and Butternut Squash Polenta. The Shepherd's pie with the soy sausage was a HUGE hit. Would love to try more items on their menu!
