Some amazing flavours but a slice of cauliflower as a main was disappointing - Edit
This was a lovely restaurant and we were excited that a Michelin recommended place would have several vegan options available which included a salad , roast cauliflower and a pasta dish for the mains. Allergens are clearly marked on the menu.
Read moreThe service was excellent. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, warm and friendly. The dishes were delicious. The (free) dish at the start of pak choi, tomatoes and lemon rind was incredible for something so simple - this to me is what high end cooking is about - simple food, quality ingredients but cleverly elevated.
For the mains we had the pasta dish which was a regional thick type of spaghetti in a chickpea creamy sauce with mushrooms, foam and a demi glacé. The sauce was a little heavy and I found the appearance of the foam a bit off-putting but overall this was nice.
We also had the cauliflower main which was delicious but it was a small slice of cauliflower with a few things on top which is not sufficient as a main course - no protein source, not very filling. For €28 this was disappointing. This is a common theme we have found where a vegan main dish is just a vegetable (vegans must like vegetables right!😉)
The dessert was the star of the show for me. We ordered the strawberry soup which the wait staff advised would be vegan if we changed the pea gelato for a sorbet, so we changed this to green apple sorbet. The strawberry soup was with pieces of strawberry, vanilla tomatoes, candied almonds and sweet fresh peas. Amazing! It was absolutely delicious, fresh and the combinations of textures and flavours was something new and unexpected.
Overall it was an enjoyable experience but I wish the mains were better considered for a balanced and filling vegan dish.

Disappointing dish but nice place - Edit
I was very excited to try one of the three vegan main dishes on the menu. I went for the spaghetti with chickpea cream and porcini mushrooms.
Read moreI did not like it, the chickpea “cream” was more of a froth and the dish had a strong "earthy” taste. I would recommend that they shift to cashew cream to balance the dish better and make it more creamy.
I appreciate the effort to try to make a nice vegan dish but I’m sorry to say it disappointed. The service was exquisite though and I liked the vibe and decor. I would give another dish a chance if I ever go back to Sirmione.
Pros: Service , Decor, Vibe
Cons: Earthy taste, High price
