Röllchen tag line is “vegan ice-cream rolls”, I let you imagine my disappointment when I discovered that they only had a couple of vegan options and mostly fruity ones. The rest of their options are made with milk from another sentient being and they use the same plates to prepare vegan ones, what a joke. Nevertheless, I tried their 3 Rolls options for 7.90€ (Flavours: Brezel and vegan white chocolate, Topping: Hazelnuts & Almonds, Sauce: dark chocolate). It was good, but definitely overhyped and overpriced. The location is “decorated” with sweets from well known brands (Ferrero, Nestle, Mondelez…), so if you’re looking for an artisanal and local ice-cream parlour, avoid this place. The concept (rolled ice-cream) seems to appeal to a younger and chronically online generation.

Read moreEs hat sich ein wenig was getan. Die Zubereitung geht schneller voran, da es nun vier Arbeitsplatten gibt. Das Eis war sehr lecker, wir hatten Spekulatius mit ein wenig Espresso, Schokostreuseln und Schokosoße. Ein wenig Zeit und Geduld ist trotzdem von Vorteil.

Das Eis schmeckt super und auch, wenn man im erstem Moment denkt, dass es teuer ist, die Portionen sind echt groß! Zwei Rollen (6,50€) können da schon locker zwei Personen satt machen. Neben veganen Sorten gibt es auch nicht-vegane Sorten (auch wenn es „vegan“ im Titel hat), die alle auf der gleichen Arbeitsplatte verarbeitet werden (ohne Reinigung). Ein Eis dauert tatsächlich etwas länger, und es gibt „nur“ zwei Arbeitsplatten. Also meine Bilanz: für einmal probieren super aber auch nicht herausragend.

My flavor combination was quite neutral, the icecream base probably needs more intense add-ons, otherwise a bit bland. But the production itself and the look of the "ice rolls" are amazing.

Please mind, even thought the ice cream base is somewhat tasteless, you probably won’t be happy choosing only one ingredient. Their bestsellers have several ingredients for a reason.
I have the impression though, that the concept wears off a bit and gets old. The customers don’t seem that thrilled anymore, the staff, as well, seems less enthusiastic than a couple of months ago. But that’s just an observation passing by.
One more remark: saying “vegan“ at the entrance is a bit misleading. Yet, everything vegan is clearly labeled.

Die veganen Optionen beim Zusammenstellen der eigenen Röllchen waren gekennzeichnet und auch nicht wenige. Der Preis wird durch den guten Geschmack beinahe wieder aufgewogen, dennoch sind 3 Rollen für 6.90€ ein bisschen zu teuer.

Well, it's a bit of work to make your choice and as everything is hand-made you need to bring some time (15 minutes in our case), but it's absolutely worth it.
Read more5 stars the moment this place goes fully vegan. However, vegan options are clearly marked and the staff is super nice.
