Indian comfort food - Edit

Great food, lots of vegan options (including vegan naan). We visited the place on Sunday evening and it was quite busy. Which meant it was a bit noisy (be prepared if you get easily overwhelmed by sounds) and we had to wait a while before our food arrived. But it was worth it because all of it was nice😄Some of the staff was a bit in a hurry or agitated at times, but overall the atmosphere was social and cosy.

Great place with a lot of vegan options - Edit

Asked for the vegan menu. So much choice it was actually hard to choose. Loved the decoration and ambiance. Quick service and i enjoyed the food with delicious vegan naan bread. Hope to come back soon.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant. Nothing fancy, but just really flavourful food. Ask for the vegan menu and they will bring you a separate overview with more than 30 vegan options. If you can't handle the overchoice: this time we went for the tandoori aloo curry and the gobhi methi masala with some garlic naan & cilantro naan on the side, which was just the perfect combination of Indian comfort food.

I've been here several times before (last time we had the vegan kabab curry and the kadhai mushroom with garlic naan and olive naan) and it was always good, so don't hesitate to try some different options.

I was very happy to meet neo who is a krsna devotee and since last many years vegan . Loved the way he gives suggestions and taking care till the end . Very nice hospitality and I felt home at Royal india . Recommended to every vegan n vegetarian person

So many options! - Edit

They have a lot of vegan dishes in their new menu. They also have amazing vegan naan bread; regular, garlic and filled naan. The owner is vegan and so friendly!
The way to dine here is to order a few dishes and share with your friends, that way you can taste all of the amazing spices they put in each dish. You will never be disappointed dining at Royal India.

Thanks for the appreciation for food and hospitality. We love to host fellow vegan community . We know honey is not vegan but then we don’t like crystal sugar in food , although we rather be honest . There are 8 vegan main dishes on the menu. If you ask for the detailed menu, you will find another 2 pages of vegan dishes. So a lot of variety to choose from. Highly recommend the vegan garlic naan.

Great Indian food with lots of choices - Edit

We had the tofu massala and jalfrezi (the latter on recommendation of the host).

There is an extended menu with tons of vegan choices.

Really good Indian food. Staff is very friendly but seems to be overworked. Many vegan options and all are amazing, but for us the Rhajastani potato dish was a clear winner. Also love that they have multiple vegan naan options. Price wise it's also decent, especially due to the location.

Food is nice but Experience was terrible - Edit

Waitress hardly spoke to us, just dropped menus in front of us and walked off. Seemed annoyed the whole time. Not usually people to complain about service but it was just that bad! Our food arrived after 1.5 hours after ordering and they were beginning to close the restaurant just as our food arrived. Once we got the food it was very nice. The owner was nice and apologetic, also got a free shot for our troubles. Would recommend a takeaway from here but not to dine in.

Cons: Service was very slow, Unattentive

That garlic naan - Edit

Is there anything better that garlic naan? Not a chance! And here in Royal India you'll get the best naan (for my non-indian taste).
I'm a big fan of their tofu with mint sauce, it's a dish I didn't know before. Vegan and vegetarian options are specified really clearly and staff knows the difference between those. When I first was there, like two years ago, I went to the bathroom and my boyfriend placed our orders. I came back and he told me that he wanted to order masala chai for me and the lady said, a bit concerned, "but there's cow's milk in it", cause she saw he ordered a vegan dish. And I just loved that!! I think most of the people would say "yeah, ok" and didn't think more of that, but she wanted to be sure he knows about the non-vegan milk ♥️ Of course he's got me tea instead. I was there few days ago and the same lady still works there ☺️

Pros: Many vegan and vegetarian options, The staff is well aware about veganism, Good prices

Cons: No soy milk for chai tea :(

We mentioned we were vegan to the host and she immediately offered an other menu which had two full pages of vegan options! As there was way too much to choose from, we asked her for recommendations and they were simply amazing!

Ask for the vegan menu and you'll get a long list of fantastic vegan dishes. The owner is super friendly and is rightfully very proud of her amazing Indian food. Don't forget to order naan with your food!

Top service en veel keuze - Edit

Bij Royal India word je heel goed ontvangen. Ze bieden in hun gewone menu kaart enkele vegan opties maar dit is slechts het topje van de ijsberg. Er is ook een volledig vegan menu kaart met maar liefst 41! vegan hoofdgerechten. De gerechten waren super lekker en goed afgekruid en de porties zeker ruim genoeg (we namen elks nog een portie naan). De eigenares is zelf Indisch en super behulpzaam. Zeker een aanrader dus!

Zijn er met een groep uit eten geweest, hadden elk 1 voor 1 overheerlijk eten!
Uitgebreide keuze voor veggie en vegan. Superlieve uitbaters , vriendelijk en goedlachs. Warm en puur van inborst. Niets is te veel gevraagd. Bij keuzestress helpt de uitbater je kiezen. De goedkopere prijs (in vergelijking met andere restaurants) is zeker een dikke troef! Je krijgt meer dan voldoende voor wat je betaalt. Alles was overheerlijk.
Gezellige sfeer, een beetje Rajasthan in hartje Gent :)
Zeker een aanrader! DOEN! :)

Friendly and passionate staff, helping a lot with advice and suggestions in the large vegan menu. The taste was great and all was adapted to taste on demand. A great and somewhat hidden spot in Ghent.

Great restaurant with a wide range of vegan options. The food was delicious and the owner, who is vegan himself, was very friendly and is planning to get rid of any meat dishes on the menu.
I would have liked to give a 5-star-rating, but unfortunately that's not possibly for restaurants that are not completely meatfree.

AMAZING ❤️ - Edit

We arrived with 2 vegans and 1 omni right before the kitchen would close but the owner was so kind to make an exception for us and to keep the kitchen open for a bit longer. The owner is vegan himself and prepared a vegan surprise menu for us. All the dishes were delicious and the service was excellent. Cosy atmosphere and awesome vegan food. Price/quality is perfect! We will come back for sure!

Plenty of vegan options, but do ask for the vegan menu (it's a regular menu but it has a larger vegan section). Not the best Indian food I've ever had but still pretty good. I can recommend the potatoes cooked with fenugreek leaves and spices.
