Excellent - Edit
I had the jicama fresh roll as a starter. Not too spicy and fantastic on a hot day. I was recommended the "Spicy lemongrass tofu-seitan, bbq vegan meat and spring roll" vermicelli bowl. Portion was very filling and quite tasty. Cute establishment.

XXL portions, many different kind of fake meat used in the different dishes (all different in shape, texture and taste). Good job!!

Carmel Banh Mi - Edit
The carmel seitan and tofu banh mi was the best everrr. I also had a lemongrass spring roll and the prices are v affordable! I was there on a Saturday night and so the vibe was somewhat frenetic, but I’m glad that they were so busy. This place is a treat!

Veganamese! - Edit
Saigon Lotus offers tasty vegan Vietnamese cuisine and attentive service. The Bahn Mi is a nori-wrapped tofu flank in a crisp bun. The Pan-Fried Vegan Pho (my first) was riddled with vegetables and faux meat. The Viet coffee and mango lassi are great drink choices. The Banana fritters and Taro Pudding are both smothered in condensed coconut milk. The fritters are greasy and crisp. Finally, our waiter was attentive and promptly met our needs. We were lost in the menu, having never had Vietnamese food before. The waiter even recommended perfect options based on our tastes. Saigon Lotus is worth visiting!

Delicious Southeast Asian food, loved their Pandan Coco Mungbean drink - Edit
Visited Saigon Lotus on a recent trip to Toronto. The restaurant is easy to find, near Chinatown and Kensington market.
Read moreThey had lovely southeast Asian food, a fusion of Chinese, Western, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean food.
We ordered steamed rice sheet rolls with wild mushrooms (a dish we call cheung fan back home). Really loved their unique spin on wild mushrooms and the sauce used.
We wanted to try so many dishes, and we found the perfect way to do that by ordering Combo 2 (green curry tofu, lemongrass tofu-setian and grilled eggplant). It also came with kimchi and soup. A few dishes can be spicy. Better speak to the staff to let them know your preference beforehand.
Finally, my favourite part. The drink. I had never heard of a Pandan Coco Mungbean drink. And I was wondering why it took so much time to come to our table. But it was worth the wait. An aromatic blend of coconut and pandan crushed with ice and not too sweet. Perfect for a hot summer day.
Pros: Delicious food , Friendly staff, Variety of options
Cons: Relatively smaller portions

Saigon Lotus - Edit
We came here on a last minute change of plans for vegan eateries. Our Lyft driver dropped us off at another vegan place, but the atmosphere there was really loud and had a feeling of exclusivity, so we ended up at Saigon Lotus instead. We are glad we did! Their food is amazing with HUGE portions & very affordable! My husband accidentally ordered a soup that was way too spicy for him and they were very accommodating to replace it with something else.
Read morePros: Within walking distance of where we were staying, Huge portions!, All vegan! GF options available upon asking.
Cons: Some items are very spicy (ok for some but not me)

Best Vietnamese in T.O.? - Edit
I'm not sure how this place never got a review from me. I've been mildly addicted for a few years. There's so many options on well priced Bahn mi including meats, lemongrass tofu, fish - they are all good.
Read moreSurprisingly, the thing that got me coming back so many times was the golden curry soup. I'm not a soup person but one cold day I ordered it. I fell in love and have ordered it many times. It's got pumpkin, bread fruit, basil, taro, plantain... it's just so good.
4 stars and not 5 because of all the times I've had to wait. I wait a lot here, I've seen other people wait a lot. Some people walk out. Don't order the Pandam Coco Mungbean in particular because you'll have to wait 20 min, even if you don't order anything else. (It's very good though!)
Pros: Everything I've had on the menu rocks, fresh tasting, variety
Cons: Wait times for takeout

Some good food here - Edit
I've been here twice and found the food good, but not as great as people rave about. Both times I went with non-vegans and they were more impressed than I was. Maybe it was simply the items I ordered that were a miss.
Read moreTheir spring rolls may be the best I've ever had though.
I have to say though, having to scan a QR code for the menu was annoying, especially when going with older people.
Still, a lot of dishes I would like to try if I ever do go back.

Scanning a QR code is optional; they have a big physical menu with lots of laminated pages now-we went on 17 June 2025.

Excellent flavours and value - Edit
Saigon Lotus was recommended to us by a Toronto local and we were pleased to find the time to make it for a late lunch. The menu is extensive (maybe too extensive!), the flavours are excellent, and the portion sizes are excellent value. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Our favourites were the Yam Tempura Salad Roll and the BBQ Vegan Meat (available on many dishes, I had the vermicelli bowl).
