Lots of Vegan Options! - Edit
I am always a bit torn about Salt & Straw. They consistently offer lots of vegan options, especially in January when they participate in Veganuary, which I really appreciate.
Read moreThat said, I am unfortunately not a huge fan of their ice cream itself. Most flavors lean very sweet (which of course ai recognize is subjective), and many use a coconut base that I do not mind, but it does make a lot of the flavors taste like coconut rather than purely what it is advertised as (e.g., mint chocolate chip tastes like coconut mint chocolate chip—not bad, but something to be aware of).
The staff at this location are always very kind and knowledgeable about the vegan choices. For a “higher quality” ice cream shop, I also do not think the pricing is bad for the area.
Overall, it is definitely worth a visit, especially in January, even if it is not personally my favorite.

Delicious Vegan Ice Cream - Edit
I was pleasantly surprised to find a selection of vegan flavors in this shop. I chose the mint chip, which was very creamy and had lots of shaved chocolate chips in it. The base was coconut but I still felt like I was eating mint-chip ice cream, it was not overly coconutty or too sweet. I also tried the peanut butter brittle caramel- it was not too sweet and was also delicious. There was also a strawberry coconut flavor I did not try. It looks like they have various flavors that they rotate. I was overall very pleased.
