Amazing selection of vegan food and goodies. Nice little takeaway section as well.

Great Selections

We went here a few times on our vacation to stock up on groceries, as well as get some drinks/snacks for the plane ride. Great selection of fruits/veggies, pantries staples, snacks and eco friendly products. Lots of different vegan "specialty" items, such as yogurt, cheese, tofu, tempeh. The staff are so friendly, and gave us tips of where to go while we were in town.

Organic vegan options

Love this place. It’s non-profit ethos is fantastic and the staff are friendly. You can sit overlooking Byron Bay high street.

The cafe serves gluten free options which I are good! I’ve tried the banana bread and a muffin.

Shop adjoining the cafe has vegan cosmetics, plastic-free and bulk options.

Great cakes

We had the carrot cake and the chocolate beetroot cake (both vegan). The carrot cake was very good and I would highly recommend. The beetroot chocolate was also good but very very rich. Overall plenty of on the go options to suit everyone!

good

I’ve been twice trying to get a pie and been unable, the carrot cake was amazing but the savoury veg satay and miso soup were less exciting but still yummy

Pros: carrot cake

Good place to find some vegan goodies

This is a combination fresh food bar and 'health food' store.

The fresh food on display looks appetising, and they have a variety of pantry and refrigerated items on offer.

They also carry a range of sparkling kombucha drinks, which i love to drink on hot days like the last time i was there.

A good store, but marks off mainly for not being vegan, and some for the other cons i listed below.

Pros: Fair range of vegan items, Nice looking fresh food, Central location

Cons: Service can be slow if it's busy, Can be pricey and cramped if busy, Not vegan

Chilled out

Atmospheric little cafe conveniently located inside a wholefoods supermarket. Lots of juices, raw sweets and some vegan options for a light meal. I only had a juice, but it looked pretty nice and you can eat at a communal table located near the front. Lots of good options in the market section of the shop.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Healthy and tasty

Cons: Bit squishy, Nowhere private to eat/drink

Excellent place!

Been to Byron Bay twice, and only came here the second time back in June 2012. This little store is great, and they've got hot food too so make sure you consider this place when deciding on dinner! Unlike the older review below, I didn't know there was any seating available, maybe this isn't there anymore (?).
Anyway, they're on the main road, right opposite woolworths. We grabbed hot food there one night and just found a bench and ate out near the beach, it was lovely. The staff are so friendly, and another customer (who said he used to work there) helped us decide on some options.
They've got everything you need to do a 'main shop' whilst having those little snack items (my favourite was the huge chunks of chocolate in the sort of 'pick n mix' area at the back!)
The hot food we had was delicious, so we went back the next day and got more, she remembered us and we talked about what we'd done that day (SO FRIENDLY!!)

Pros: so friendly!, have everything you need!, hot food is delicious

Nice atmosphere

Spacious health food and product store with fresh produce in the back.

The cafe has pre-made items, many of which are vegan. I had the sushi roll and a fried tofu sandwich. The roll was overpriced and a tad bland (no wasabi inside nor soy sauce to dip it in), but wholesome, and the sandwich was tiny, delicious and oily ($8.50).

I would've come back here if I'd stayed longer.

Cool nearly Vegan counter

Santos is a tad smaller than Fundamental Foods, but their food counter is a bit more inventive. They have an incredible selection of vegan desserts, but there's a Gelato bar up the street that has Soy Gelato and soy milkshakes for a little less fatty sweet.

100% vegetarian policy

Santos health food stores stock only vegetarian supplies, and for that matter they're mostly vegan. If you're a regular shopper ask about their loyalty card.
