Didn't believe it was vegan - Edit
Newly vegan. Didn't even believe at first that the food was vegan. We were a party of 2 & opted for the tapas menu. I would recommend the Labneh & the 'meat' skewers.

We tried the falafels (they were good) and a plate with rice, lettuce, other vegetables and « meats », which in our case was shawarma and kebab. It was really good! My bémol would be that it’s quite expensive (I don’t remember exactly but I think one plate was 21$ without taxes so almost 25$ with them and the plate isn’t THAT big) and we can’t really differentiate in taste each « meat » which are all mushroom (but it stays good nonetheless).

Best meal I had in Montreal - Edit
I had the pleasure of eating here on my last day of vacation in Montreal and ended up having the best meal I ate all week!
Read moreI originally ordered two steak platter and the sweet lady behind the counter recommended that one of the platters be fish so me and my gf could share both of them. the steak was a bit small but tasty. I couldn’t tell if it was name brand or made in house. The fish, on the other hand, was definitely Gardein.
The platters were served with a big helping of rice, potatoes, and salad with a delicious garlic paste. I walked out of there filled to the brim!
Sham is a chain of delis but this location in particular (the one in St. Laurent avenue was closed for renovations) had a very mom-and-pop atmosphere. Any time I go back to Montreal I am hitting this place up
Pros: Separate vegan menu

The portions here are huge and everything is so good you can't help but finish it all! Very kind service and if you can't choose from their incredibly large menu they're willing to do a half and half plate. I think this is my favourite place in Montreal!

Great Middle Eastern food! - Edit
Sham offers an original vegan take on traditional Middle Eastern food, and it does it so well! The food is fresh and delicious, the falafel is some of the best I've had, plates are prepared with care and burst with flavors and there are many gluten free options. Even their baklavas and baked goods are great! Staff is super nice and friendly. It's my favourite Middle Eastern place in Montreal.

So good, the garlic sauce with the fries was even better than the stuff I used to eat before I went vegan. Well worth the trip.

Delicious! - Edit
I was so pleasantly surprised with my meal from Sham! The shawarma plate was incredibly substantial - the garlic sauce was to die for, and the vegan meat was some of the best I’ve ever had.
Read moreI’m really excited to go back to try some of their sandwiches, as they also look delicious. My only complaint is the price. The plate was 18 dollars, and while it was great, I can find a similar amount of food for quite a bit less money elsewhere.
Otherwise, I completely recommend and will go back!

Amazing middle eastern food - Edit
Nice place located a few steps away from Jean-Talon Market. You need to know that is there. You won't stumble on it while walking in the Jean-Talon Market, since it's not directly in the market area. The owners are super nice and the food is amazing!!! There are a lot of different choices (falafels, hummus, salads, rice, mock meats, etc.). I have been there many times and what I really like taking is a plate with a few mock meats. I try different ones everytime, they are all good. The vegan yogourt sauce is a must.

Great vegan Middle Eastern food - Edit
Sham has an extensive menu comprising many Middle Eastern classics (like shawarma, shish taouk, falafel, tajine, hummus, kibbeh, etc.) - but veganized! I was delightfully surprised to find vegan baklava too.
Read moreI ordered the shawarma plate, which came with lots of salad and rice. The portion was generous and filling, and the food was delectable. The shawarma was flavorful and its soft but chewy texture was on point. Bonus points: the takeout containers are compostable. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Pros: Extensive menu, Vegan baklava!, Generous portions of tasty food
Cons: Not that cheap

Très bon! - Edit
