Typical San Diego Coffee Shop - Edit
Subterranean had various labeled vegan food options (salad, bagels, sandwiches, etc) on the menu, some explicitly labeled and some obvious or can be modified. They also have vegan gluten-free donuts (3 flavors when I visited) on the pastry shelf. I opted for a simple lavender lemonade, and it was good (but nearly impossible to mess up).
Read moreThe shop has a decent amount of seating, wifi, and an overall cozy feel. On a Wednesday afternoon in May, it was busy but not packed. Unless you're lucky, prepare to park a bit out, but that is typical for the area.

Ok - Edit
The espresso or the oat milk was ok. The vegan sloppy sandwich was really salty. It had some cucumbers which balanced it a little. Overall, wouldnt recommend over nearby options

I wish I could... - Edit
The people here are just lovely I wish I could say the same about the food— but they do serve Maya's Cookies and plenty of styles of coffee to stave off hunger until I can go for a proper meal.

Cozy eclectic coffee shop with nice vegan options - Edit
This coffee shop is great! The cozy and art filled interior is reminiscent of Lestat's coffee house (another coffee house I enjoy). They have reusable cups and plates if you're gonna have your coffee and food in house. The vegan options are plentiful and clearly marked, and they also have non-dairy milk. In the pastry case they had vegan cookies, muffins, cinammon rolls, and steamed buns. The service was warm and friendly. I'm looking forward to coming back.
