Impossible Burger, sit down place

It’s one of the only places where you can get a sit down vegan meal at ORD. They have Impossible Burger, but you have to get it without the bun for it to be vegan.

Impossible Burger has non-vegan bun

I was on a layover and had hoped to get a vegan burger. They had impossible burgers, but the cheese, 1000 island dressing, and the bun are not vegan. Now that’s according to the waiter who could not figure out if the truffle aioli tots were vegan (they are not—eggs apparently). I left and went to Burrito Beach in Concourse K.

Pros: Impossible burger

Cons: Bun not vegan, cheese and dressing not vegan, Staff untrained

No impossible burger

They no longer have the impossible burger though it still shows up on the doggone menu!

Out of the Impossible Burger

I stood in line for 15 minutes only to be told they have been sold out for weeks. I understand this is the case for most restaurants due to the BK deal, but how about covering it up on the menu or adding a sold out sign? It’s not like people have a ton of time to shop around in the airport.

Get the Impossible Burger (ask for it to be veganized)

I absolutely loved my veganized “Americana - Impossible Burger”. The normal version of the burger comes with dairy cheese and non-vegan thousand island dressing/sauce; however, the menu clearly states that you can also ask for the burger to be made vegan. When I got to the register and placed the order (requesting the burger to be made vegan), the cashier said “Got it. I’ll remove the cheese and the thousand island dressing.” I love when non-vegan restaurants know what they’re doing!

I was worried that the burger might be lacking flavor if there was no vegan cheese or vegan sauce, but the burger (which, when veganized, comes with only lettuce and onions on a delicious bun) was AMAZING! I included some ketchup with a few of the bites, but honestly, it wasn’t even necessary to do that.

If you have the time while you’re arriving to, departing from, or transferring within the ORD airport, I strongly recommend that you make the trip over to this restaurant! This was likely my favorite vegan-airport meal of all time.

Pros: The veganized Impossible Burger is EXCELLENT, The staff knew what “vegan” means, The decor/ambiance is beautiful

Cons: It’s not expensive, but it’s not cheap
