Great sushi, interesting experience! - Edit
I really enjoyed the sushi at this place. It was so cool to get sushi that was very authentic, but like vegan! I've never had vegan sushi like that before. My husband got the Bao Buns and they were fine, but he wasn't in love. But, he's never had Bao Buns before so he didn't have a frame of reference.
Read moreThe place is in an odd spot to get to, though there is street parking. And then it's in this cooperative restaurant type space except it doesn't have a stall. There's a sign to knock on the kitchen door and then the person brings you the order. It wasn't really inconvient- I just wasn't sure I was in the right place multiple times.
Pros: Really cool and delicious sushi, Unique experience
Cons: Convoluted experience

Pure Love! - Edit
This restaurant currently works for carry-out only. The food is simply amazing! I called the review Pure Love because the energy that chef puts into the food they prepare is easy to feel. The large sushi box is enough for 2 people and each kind of sushi tastes amazingly good! If you’re in DC or visiting, you should try it 100%! 💚

Cons: The only thing is that there’s no place to dine-in

Dope! - Edit
Super great sushi at a good price! The pieces are huge, and the meal is bigger then it looks. Filled me up and left me with a few bites for later.

Always really good - Edit
Near here often and always have to stop by. I’m not sure why the other reviews aren’t super positive — the food is delicious and I think pretty decently priced. Not sure if the Bahn mi and impossible buns are under this name specifically but those are my favorite. All the rolls I’ve had so far are also really good and pretty saucy as a heads up if you don’t love that.

Not fresh - Edit
The sushi tasted like it was mass made in the morning and packaged up for customers. The impossible bao and bahn mi was pretty good, but it had the exact same ingredients on them.

Yay for vegan sushi! - Edit
Don't you adore sushi but hate going to places where they roll sushi in the same space where fish flesh and fish eggs and egg and other stuff are also rolled? Yeah, me, too....
Read moreNOT HERE! Yay! This place makes me so happy knowing I do not have to worry about finding anything but what I ordered in the rolls! Delicious! They give you a generous portion of pickled ginger and way more wasabi than you'd ever need, but, it's nice to have some for another day?
You have to order in advance, but that's ok, because there is just so much to choose from you'll want to plan ahead. When you go to pick up, it's all ready for you to dive in!
Seating in Tastemakers Food Hall where Sushi But Like Vegan is located... ummm, there is none. There are some tables outside, but, not really that welcoming and inviting.
Anyhow, just order online and pick up your food, go home and enjoy!
I love the sushi choices like classic avocado or cucumber rolls and a spicy sushi box like jalapeño popper and buddha rolls. The maki rolls are very generous in size, unlike some traditional sushi restaurants where a set of 6 rolls would be barely an appetizer for me.... The bento boxes have pickled radishes and japchae noodles, yum! They even have tacos and banh mi and salads/ grain bowls. There are so many choices. This place is great!
Pros: All vegan, Amazing menu
Cons: In a food hall, No live person easily available to talk to

“Eel” and other vegan versions of fish sushi. Recommend the Vegan Big Box, the variety of all the sushi options. The bulgogi bahn mi very good also.

It’s now called Block Sushi (I believe) - Edit
So I found this place and it has the same
Read moreAddress as another sushi place called Block Sushi, I’m guessing it’s name changed. It now serves sushi that is also not vegan it seems, but the vegan sushi is AWESOME! The jalapeño popper roll is vegan and amaaaaIng. It’s not super spicy either. The little forest bento is fantastic too. I ordered through Uber eats and it was delivered quick.
