Vegan/Vegetarian in Alfama!! - Edit
After an hour or so doing the flea market thing at the Saturday Mercado de Santa Clara, on a gorgeous post-Christmas weekend in the Alfama, much needed libations and sustenance refueling was required! I did a quick search for someplace nearby where we could find some vegan options and, lo-'n'-behold, right before our eyes, lay Tazza in Giro! Just what the doctor ordered!! 😄
Read moreIt's not an exaggeration when I say that everyone and their grandmothers were out looking for sustenance, as well!! (Lol!!) As we checked their menu display to ensure there would be something for us plant-based folks, our soon-to-be welcoming and kindly waiter did a quick run-through of their menu with us. And YES we had a nice variety of options! And, too, we lucked-out and scored the last empty table alfresco! The Sun King was on our side!! :D
A couple pints of Estrella Damm was required pronto! We started with a shared appetizer of hummus and spelt crackers/crisps. The dish presented scrumptiously: the hummus was appetizingly smooth with a hint of smokiness; the crisps were its perfect complement. For our mains, I ordered the rigatoni, which came with a smattering mushrooms stirred in a velvety tofu "béchamel"-like sauce. "Perfeito!" as they in Portuguese. (My better-half went with the lasagna, which was Yum! from the fork-full that I tried.) A couple more pints for-the-road, along with a shared banana/cream dessert (their only vegan option), which was satisfying (not overly sweetened!), and we were ready for a walk home to work-off the calories...! (Haha!)
The entire meal (4 pints of beers, shared-appetizer, 2 mains, and dessert) totaled an amazingly reasonable €55 (not including a 20% tip we added for the great service). Overall, the great people-watching location, the awesome food, and the fantastic service makes Tazza in Giro one of our finest lunch experiences we've had in Portugal!!! Highly, highly-recommended...!!! 😄

Delicious! - Edit
I had the vegan carbonara and it was great! The food came out quickly after we ordered it (but you had to scan a qr code to order and you need wifi for that -> not good for tourists?)

A nice place to have a break - Edit
Good food would recommend! I had the pasta carbonara and the banana Crumble everything was very fresh and the desserts were homemade. Staff is very friendly, the waiter gave some advice on other great places to eat vegan in Lisbon!

Decent place close to the flea market - Edit
We had the hummus and caponata, both tasty. Kombucha was overfermented though, too close to vinegar.

Nice vegan brunch - Edit
We went here for breakfast and got the vegan brunch option. It was a mix of salty (crackers, avocado, hummus, mushrooms) and sweet (oat porridge, pancake and pear). It came with a coffee and a juice. All very tasty and at a very reasonable price!

Nice vegan brunch with a view - Edit
Mostly vegetarian but they have a vegan brunch, with a juice and a coffee for 15 euros. Quite fair price with good portions and quite tasty. The waitress was very nice. Ashame though that she brought my coffee and juice first, and by the time the food arrived my coffee was tepid. The food was ok but cold (even the pancake) so it didn't seem freshly prepared. I liked the fact that there were both locals and tourists, and that day there was a flee market, so i enjoyed the very good atmosphere. Not the best food ever but definitly a good experience on a sunny day.

Great all-day vegan breakfast - Edit
Friendly service and good value for money! Had the all-day vegan breakfast which consisted of sauteed mushrooms, hummus, crackers, fruit salad, chia pudding, a flapjack-style cake and a drink. Wasn't aware of them making moves to becoming fully vegetarian (I went at the end of March 2023), so perhaps the menu will be more extensive nowadays.

Tasty! - Edit
I had a really tasty lentil salad. It had lovely flavours of ginger and mint. It felt refreshing to eat it! It was fairly cheap. I wish it came with some bread just to make it a bit more filling, but it did come with these tasty seeded crackers. They were delicious but just not super filling. They had some lovely Kombucha too which went perfectly with the salad. Some of their veggie things could have quite easily had a vegan option available so I wish there was also something like that on the menu too.

Banana cake take away 🌿 - Edit
Lovely location next to a square and a park, restaurant has outdoor seating. I went there on Saturday during when there was a Flea market. It was very busy so I decided to take a cake for take away. I had the vegan banana cake! It was good but not my favorite, maybe because it was gluten-free? Price for the cake was €3. At the menu you will find some vegan options.

Vegan brunch of dreams - Edit
Lovely location next to a quiet square, with outdoor seating. I had the vegan brunch which was massive and delicious, and filled me for the rest of the day - it comes with juice, coffee, hummus and crackers, salad, mushrooms, a fruit pot, overnight oats and vegan cake! Really good value at 10 euros.
Read moreUnfortunately the service was very slow / half-hearted, and when I ordered a second coffee with almond milk, it definitely had been made with dairy. The waiter tried to convince me it was dairy free but eventually brought out a fresh one and the difference was very noticeable. This was a shame as otherwise it’s a great place!
Pros: The brunch is amazing and will fill you for hours, Non dairy milk available, Nice relaxing location
Cons: Very slow service, Mixed up dairy / non dairy in coffee
