Best vegan hot chocolate! - Edit
Lovely place with almost all vegan food. The pot pie doesn’t look like much but it was absolutely delicious!! Best hot chocolate too!

Pretty Good - Edit
Overall pretty good food. I definitely ordered the healthiest thing on the menu, so I acknowledge I probably sacrificed a little on the taste. Would definitely come back and try other things.
Read moreOnly downside is the location. Really hard to find parking. I ordered carryout, but when I got there there was an accident right out front. I ended up ditching my car in an alley really quick while I ran in and got my food. Not ideal.
Pros: Options, 100% Plant-Based, Tasty
Cons: Location/Parking

Friendly staff , very tasty food, would DEFINITELY recommend !! Had brunch, large portions . Although, when I walked in they said “this is a completely vegan restaurant “ but it technically is not since they serve real eggs and cheese by request .

Tad Disappointing - Edit
Was looking forward to this place after hearing so much about it but I guess I didn't do my research enough- there's a mandatory 20% gratuity stated when you enter which is a huge turn off. I ordered the Country Fried Steak and a chocolate milkshake. The mashed potatoes and fried steak was a good try but ultimately pretty average as I continued eating. The milkshake was fantastic though.

Delicious and no meat!!! - Edit
The spinach and artichoke appetizer was the best I’ve had as a vegan! The strawberry milkshake was freaking amazing!!! I got the radical Reuben which was good! My non vegan family got the Cuban, Perogi quesadillas and portabella truffle melt which they all enjoyed and said they didn’t even notice no meat!!!!!!

Vegan Comfort Food - Edit
This restaurant advertises as vegan/vegetarian, but everything on the menu is already vegan with the option to add dairy. I honestly wish they would just go full vegan.
Read moreThe vegan poutine ($11) was amazing! Highly recommend.
The pierogi quesadilla ($12) was also great, but a warning that it’s a bit heavy on the sauerkraut
Cuban sandwich ($15) was also pretty good.
Pros: Many options , Affordable

So much on the menu! - Edit
I’ve been wanting to try this place for over 6 years now and I finally took myself there! Amazingly extensive menu full of incredible vegan eats. Everything is vegan by default but can be modified to include cows milk or eggs (😕). Had the nachos as an app, the black mamba burger and my friend had the Philly cheesesteak. Everything was delicious and portions were quite large.

Excellent lentil loaf - Edit
Had the poutine which wasn't very poutine like imo, the cheese sauce was more like a special sauce on a big Mac bit it was OK.
Read moreThe vanilla milkshake was a bit too sweet for me, but had incredible creamy texture and not icy at all. Was excellent.
The lentil loaf was awesome! Really enjoyed it.

Cozy and meatless - Edit
2nd time here. Not 100% Vegan but 100% meatless. So many options to choose from. I had the breakfast with French toast, hash browns, tofu scramble. It was a good portion size and tasted great. I ordered the tofu blt for later and absolutely enjoyed every bite (along with their mashed potatoes). I took the Rueben home for my wife and she loved it. Also indulged in the shake and it was worth it. Can’t wait to come back

Meat free diner - Edit
Came here after I went shopping with my sister. I was overwhelmed by all the many delicious items on the menu, but settled on a healthy scrambled tofu deluxe. I also tried the buffalo style special recipe wings which were crunchy on the outside, but tender on the inside, so delicious as was the ranch. My only discomfort was with their egg and dairy items on the menu.

Meat Free in ‘23 - Edit
Right away the smell is amazing. Best sweet potatoes I’ve ever had. So sweet and savory. The tempeh is perfectly prepared, crisp and nutty. Also love the quinoa with chimichurri.

So good! - Edit
I love the food at Chicago Diner - there's so much choice, and the portions are very generous. There's a really nice atmosphere in the restaurant, but it gets pretty busy so you may have to wait a little for a table (it's so worth it!)

Oh my gosh it’s wonderful - Edit
We have high-risk family members so hadn’t been able to go to Chicago Diner since we found it just before the pandemic (we loved it then!).
Read moreDwellSocial is now delivering “ready to finalize/heat” meals to the suburbs and what made me try them was seeing Chicago Diner on the list. Today was our village’s delivery, and it was simply wonderful! I ordered different meals and desserts to try, and today was gyros with Mac ‘n Teeze and carrot cake — easy instructions, everything you need perfectly portioned in the biodegradable box, a few minutes of final prep and it’s all ready!
Amazing flavors, fresh ingredients, perfectly warmed food, and I feel like I’m almost back in the real world after 3 years of grazing and curbside pizza pickup. Thanks Chicago Diner and DwellSocial, you have no idea how happy you’ve made me ☀️

I've been twice now and each time was so so. I think it's such an attraction that the quality or service isn't a priority. I did enjoy my milkshake but took almost 35 minutes before I received it after ordering.

Best Veggie Comfort Food - Edit
This is THE place for veggie comfort food! All of the omnivores who I've brought to eat here have found something to love, so it's an excellent choice when dining with non-vegans/vegetarians. Their brunch is fantastic--my favorite to get is the Monte Cristo Sandwich with a big ol' cinnamon roll! They have the best vegan gyros I've ever had. I always make a reservation, even though they aren't strictly required at the Logan Square location. I personally prefer the Logan Square location, as the restaurant itself is larger and less crowded than the one in Boystown.

Our favorite Chicago Restaurant - Edit
A family favorite, we have been dining at the Lakeview and Logan Square locations for years. We always go to Chicago Diner for special occasions. Some of our favorites include Thai Chili Wingz, truffle mushroom lentil loaf, Buddha Karma Burger, the Titanic (if you have a huge appetite!), the Cuban, the breakfast combo, cinnamon roll and cinnamon roll french toast, chocolate shakes and cakes! We have tried everything on the menu at least once, and the specials are always great. So much to choose from! The service is always great!

Love the food & atmosphere - Edit
One thing that always gets me excited is visiting a meat free restaurant that doesn’t appear as one - which is exactly the case at The Chicago Diner. It’s a typical American diner with amazing vegan food! We had a burger, a Caesar salad and a milkshake and everything was super delicious. The menu is super large so we’ll definitely be back to try more!
