I was very excited to try a vegan crepe. I’ve had authentic French crepes, and I missed having them. I went here and ordered an avocado crepe to go, with all vegan options. It wasn’t a crepe…it was basically a pancake omelette. The crepe was too thick and crepes aren’t served just folded in half in France. The vegan cheese was not of high quality and it was mediocre at best. If you’ve had a real crepe, this will not satisfy your cravings.

Great Lunch - Edit
Had the lunch special of avocado crepe and salad. Service was excellent, and my salad was replaced because the croutons are not vegan. Also shared great buffalo cauliflower. We sat in the back garden, I recommend that! Food was great.

So glad I I didn’t leave! - Edit
Visiting SC for the first time as an adult, and as a vegan, this foodie had to make a few stops for vegan nom noms. This was restaurant number 1.
Read moreI love love love crepes. I used to eat them almost weekly when i lived in San Francisco. Till my go-to joint had to shut down due to rising PG&E costs in the late 90’s. Anyone remember that?
Anyway…I was extremely indecisive. I was camping and had a lot of spinach already in my meals, so the last thing I wanted was spinach in my restaurant food. The server, Cynthia, was fabulous. Very thorough and knowledgeable, very helpful. The lady sitting behind me saw my struggle and gave me the tip to do the lunch special-half a crepe with half a salad. It was less money and still very filling because their crepes are huge.
I went with the Great Gatsby with dinner salad and ranch and whoa whoa whoa that ranch was hands down the best ranch I’ve ever tasted. Housemade, thick, flavorful, nothing oily or coconutty. The crepe was pretty good. I subbed the garden chicken with tofu to avoid gluten and their tofu is diced and lightly fried and good. That said, I would have preferred less tofu and more veggies cuz there wasn’t really much.
My main tip for this joint’s owner and head chef, please please replace the Daiya cheeze with a better cheeze cuz Daiya ruins restaurant food TBH. If it wasn’t for the super delish sauce, the Daiya would have ruined it. Maybe try Chao, Vevan, or Nourish. Even better, if y’all can make that ranch so dang good, y’all have the skills to make a housemade cheeze too. Here are tons of basic starter recipes online, even without any oil at all!
Pros: Ambiance-garden, recycled running water, inviting, Huge vegan menu, Great server, i believe her name is Cynthia
Cons: The use of Daiya cheeze, Wish it were all vegan, Hostess didn’t know much

So accommodating for vegans! - Edit
I asked what could be made vegan and it was basically the whole menu. Had the Alexander and it was so yummy, the dill and lemon sauce was perfect. Request to sit outside and you get a beautiful relaxing garden to enjoy while you eat. Truly a gem in Santa Cruz

Great option for Vegan dining! - Edit
Great outdoor seating. Vegan crepes with vegan mozzarella and veggies are good. The vegan chicken was a little dry.

Salty bar food crepes - Edit
I was looking forward to trying this place for a long time with my kids. When we came in, we had to walk through a bar to the back. There is a nice garden outside but it was cold at night so we sat just inside the bar. It is great they have vegan crepe options but we all agreed it wasn’t that good. Tasted a bit too salty, maybe because it was served in a bar and we weren’t drinking alcohol. It was fun to try but won’t go back again.

Vegan Crepe Available - Edit
I ordered a vegan Alexandre The Great dinner set ($20), which was a crepe filled with meat substitutes, avocado, scallions, and garlic: ingredients that make me happy. Because I rarely eat out now, having some fake meats every now and then would be a treat. Their side house salad was delicious with a blend of kale, spinach, white mushrooms, cucumbers, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and topped with your dressing of choice.
Read moreSadly, the dinner loaf that came with the set was not vegan friendly. It was a shame because they had brought out our loaves and they looked amazing. I would've liked perhaps some crackers or other substitute for missing out on the bread but was happy to give it to my friend.
My crepe was massive and delicious. I was not able to finish my enormous dish and saved some for later. Overall, a great and worthwhile dinner set considering they did not up-charge for the vegan alternatives. Kudos to you Crepe Place!
Pros: Large vegan crepe orders, Lovely outside dining area
Cons: No vegan dressings

Yum 😋 - Edit
Nice place! Lots of substitutions for vegan ingredients (meat and cheese). But not a lot of choices for sweet crepes besides a plain crepe with fruit.

Cons: Hard to do much in the way of sweeter crepes

Cute outdoor patio - Edit
Delicious savory crepes! Photo shows only half of one because they kindly split into two plates because I shared one sweet and one savory with my daughter. The strawberry crepe was less amazing flavorwise (some lemon rind, vanilla or cinnamon would have been a good addition) but did come with a good mound of fresh berries and vegan yogurt.

Cons: Table was wobbly , Service not the speediest , Double check that dairy items are vegan

Delicious Crepes - Edit
Strawberries are one of my favorite fruit, I had the fruit Crepe with strawberries (vegan), so when I got my crepe with basically a box of strawberries on top I was excited!! My partner got a vegetarian crepe with Nutella, they gave the Nutella on the side for him as he drizzled just a bit on it. We shared potatos on the side that were delicious. Also loved the mamosas.

So happy there are now vegan options! - Edit
I visited The Crepe Place for my son's birthday dinner and was told that any item on the menu could be made vegan. They now have vegan crepe batter and offer Miyoko's mozzarella cheese and Gardein chick'n. Due to Covid 19 we chose to sit outside on their pretty patio next to a heat lamp.
Read moreI had the Zorba the Greek crepe without the dairy and eggs and side of sour cream it normally comes with. It was delicious.
After dinner they brought out a complimentary birthday fruit crepe for my son. I was impressed that they were thoughtful enough to prepare a vegan dessert crepe knowing that I had ordered a vegan meal. That was classy.
The owners are vegan and will be rolling out more vegan options in coming weeks. They will soon have a coconut whipped cream and more vegan options. I'm excited to go back and try more.

The Crepe Place rocks! - Edit
The Crepe has a vegan option for just about every item on the menu. They use Gardein faux chicken and season it to perfection! I absolutely love it! If you haven't been there, you MUST go. The garden in the back is the hidden gem of Santa Cruz. ❤
