Gorgeous inn, incredible vegan breakfast

I stayed at the inn over the weekend. What a truly incredible place. It’s on the grounds of Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. The inn is exquisite and in such a perfect, peaceful location. Rena served an amazing vegan breakfast (tofu scramble with veggies including avocados, blackberry waffles, and toast with almond butter and cooked peaches, all so good). Then I worked a volunteer shift cleaning one of the barns, and then took a tour of the sanctuary. Highly recommended, a perfect sanctuary weekend.

Pros: beautiful location (animal sanctuary), gorgeous room, incredible food

Phenomenal

We are here celebrating our anniversary. The Gray Barn is stunning. The aesthetic inside is perfect and cozy. Stocked with books and games. The breakfast is incredible! And the tour was awesome. I would 10/10 recommend!

Dreamy, Cozy, and full of heart

This place is phenomenal. I celebrated my 1st wedding anniversary on this incredible property. Being a vegan and having a space that is fully vegan was amazing. Seeing the sanctuary and how this organization is making a difference was so impactful.

The perfect weekend getaway

I'm a longtime supporter of Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, and did visit the sanctuary before -- but Sept 22-24, 2023 was my first stay at The Gray Barn, and I truly can't imagine a better way to spend a weekend.

I just read greenbluegray's thorough and thoughtful review from June 2022, and everything written there still applies more than a year later.

I loved the beautiful setting and the complete vegan experience -- the food and furnishings inside the inn, the hundreds of rescued animals outside, and the dozens of compassionate people who work to further the sanctuary's mission.

Rena the hospitality coordinator has a background in nutrition, and prepares different creative breakfasts for overnight guests each day. During my stay, day 1 we had a delicious mixed veggie hash, plus baked French toast that had been soaked overnight in a silken tofu and coconut milk custard; day 2 we had a build-your-own breakfast taco bar.

I definitely look forward to booking additional stays here in future!

Waited so long to stay here

The Gray Barn was closed for a long time due to Covid, and we jumped on a weekend booking as soon as they reopened. This place just restores your soul that may be exhausted from the violence of the world -- of course, visitors don't see the other (hard) side of rescue which the workers and vets do. We see the peace and happiness afforded to the tiny percentage of rescued farm animals, the very lucky ones.

The Barn has 5 rooms, 3 upstairs and 2 downstairs. Common areas are large, and you can use the big fridge to stash your water and wine and ice packs, lol. Right beside the hotel is the Tiniest Herd barn, a group of the sweetest family of goats who will come out for scratches every time you walk by.

The breakfasts by hotel manager Reya were a highlight, served from 8:30-9:30, so don't sleep in and miss them. No one would, lol. We had mini quiches in a delicious crust, with potatoes, avocado, and more one morning. The next meal was pancakes with cheddar scones. The coffee is sooo good, and this is one of the few places that I didn't have to tote my own creamer along, lol. Reya packed up leftover food in the fridge for snacks later, yum. We loved hearing Reya's stories about working in animal rescue. Just a wonderful host in every way.

A private tour for hotel guests is Friday at 5. Don't miss it. We also went on a public tour, since there is a lot to absorb. Bring some boots you can easily rinse off since you will be inside pens and barns, and no one wants to track poop into the beautiful lodgings. The Bunny Barn is now open, and we were able to feed alfalfa nubs to the eager cow Colin. It is just amazing how the guide Anna knew all the animals' names. We saw many children on the tours, lucky them; how I wish I had learned the truth about farming at a young age. The guides don't sugarcoat life for farmed animals but handle it tastefully. You can also sign up to volunteer, which we will do next time.

With 400 animals and 150 acres, it takes a while to cover everything, and we got some great morning walks in and loved taking pictures. We can't wait to go back, but book early because they are only open Thursday to Sunday and are nearly full to the end of the year already.

Wonderful Stay at Gray Barn

Could not say enough good things about this bed and breakfast. From the moment we entered, we felt calm and welcomed. The structure itself and the rooms are just beautiful - amazing views over the valley below. The breakfast was amazing and delicious. We could have stayed and eaten all day. Had a wonderful tour in the morning and met all the animals. Cannot wait to go back.

Pros: Beautiful accommodations, Amazing food, Friendly and warm staff
