We excitedly headed to this restaurant on our first night in Paleochora, but it was probably the most disappointing "vegetarian" restaurant we've ever visited. For a place that promotes itself as Greece's oldest vegetarian restaurant, you might expect them to know that cheese made with animal rennet is not suitable for vegetarians, and that they should not be serving it! They didn't even seem to care! The food we had was not bad, though it was a bit bland, and we found better (and less expensive) vegan and vegetarian options in many other local restaurants during our stay. Needless to say, we didn't go back to Third Eye and wouldn't recommend it!

Hello, I'd just like to take a minute to address the issues you raised for your review. Specifically regarding animal rennet in cheeses. It seems you might have jumped to conclusions since the cheeses we use are made with "vegetable based rennet". I don't think whoever you spoke to about this (presumably a waiter) "didn't care" for your statement but rather didn't understand what you are talking about.
Read moreWe respect the rest of your statements but still would like to provide some insight. It is true our restaurant is not the cheapest in town and most of the reason that is the case is because we work with a lot of imported goods which are naturally higher in price.
This also ties into the the reason you won't find many traditional vegetarian dishes served at ThirdEye. Because you can find them elsewhere in town and we figure we would occupy a different part of the market.

We sat in a really cozy calm spot outside. The food was delicious.
Read moreWe had bao bao (vegan) and falafel (vegan) as starters. As main dish we chose the black bean burger (vegetarian) and Soutzoukakia (vegan). The starters as the burger were 5/5 and the Soutzoukakia was a bit dry for my taste so 4/5✨
We were very filled. It was a lot of food!
The menu had a lot of vegan options. All in all we were very happy and definitely would recommend this place!

The potato stack tasted very good with the olives and capers.
The sushi tower tasted exactly like sushi. It was beautifully presented. I might’ve ordered the curry instead.
Went back for lunch. The beets on corn chips were so good. The samosas were okay.
Service is always excellent and very friendly.

Lovely restaurant tucked away behind the main street. I went with 3 Omni friends and they all agreed that the food was delicious. Friendly and helpful staff who explained what the dishes were.

Beautiful, Friendly Staff, Delicious Food - Edit
I was in town playing a festival and this place ended up becoming my safe space. The food was delicious and VEGAN, the ambience was calm and relaxing, the staff was friendly and beautiful. My waiter even recommended another restaurant that just started serving a vegan menu. But I literally ate almost every meal at ThirdEye with a couple of 'be sociable with the other musicians, DanDann' exceptions.

We've been there for dinner. First we received an "amuse-bouche", a polenta-vegan-cheese piece with dried tomato and fennel seeds. I then chose to have the yellow curry which was delicious.

We had a lovely evening sitting out on the terrace. Friendly staff and tasty food. Our attentive waiter helped me with the vegan options, and the owner talked us through the wine list for the best pairing options with our 2 starters and 2 main dishes. The vibe was chilled and the food was delicious.

Every time we are in Paleochora we go to 3rd eye! All their dishes are delicious! I mostly take Asian plates and my bf tends to choose greek tastes! But we are both happy!

I can't help but compare everywhere I eat in Crete now to wonderful Pulse restaurant in Chania. Third eye is all vegetarian with vegan options but wow are they expensive for Greece. Considering you can go to a taverna around the corner and get all vegan appetizers for like €20. 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks was €47. The food was tasty, but not mind blowing. The atmosphere and waiters were nice but it wasn't worth that much.

Hopping place!! - Edit
Located in off-the-track Palaiochora, Crete, this is a hopping, big restaurant that's been around forever, and rightly so. Tons of tables, all busy and animated with tourists and locals, skewing young, but including everybody. The cuisine is pure Greek and really good -- great salads, great fried dishes, great everything. Service is friendly and prompt. Portions are huge and prices are fair. Plenty of drink choices. Wow. Wow. Wow. It's actually a destination in and of itself.

Read moreThe Third Eye surprised us in every possible way! The food is delicious, the people here friendly and courteous, the menu is as rich and diverse as it gets.
We are here every night for whole week without getting close to trying even half of what’s on offer.
I definitely recommend one of their burgers, the Buddha Bowl salad, and as a desert, their crème brûlé with pistachios or the Greek-style Tirmisu (amazing!). As a drink, please try their watermelon & lime juice; it’s the most refreshing drink I’ve ever had!
