Great vegan brunch - Edit
The wayward vegan has been around for a long time for good reason. Fantastic brunch and great location.

Best Vegan omelet ever! - Edit
Had the mushroom omelet and loved the big portion size then took a bite and was amazed at how good it tasted! WOW! Home fries were great too! Finished every bite as it was too good to leave anything😋

Ehhh - Edit
Good service. Efficient, friendly.
Read moreDecidedly mediocre food.
Also the atmosphere is… way off. Exploitative, even; a cafe run by non-vegans but playing videos of happy bunnies on a big screen like vegan is just an aesthetic to market to. Hope I’m mischaracterising what’s going on here since it was taken over by new management, but I reckon I’m not wrong.
Edit 1 year later: made the mistake of giving it another chance but I agree with my 2023 self. Food was worse if anything, profoundly flavorless and unseasoned.

Makes me wish I lived in Seattle! - Edit
Wayward Vegan is conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the train station and very easy to find. They have a weekend brunch menu but you can also order from their regular menu. Everything looked so good that we decided to split the difference and had a dish from each menu. From the brunch menu we had the Hillbilly omelette and from the dinner menu we had the Infamous bowl. Both were fantastic. We just wish we had more time in Seattle so we could enjoy more of the lusciousness this restaurant has to offer. Bliss.

So good we went twice! - Edit
We went here for brunch and ordered the benedict and country fried chicken. Both were delicious and portions were huge. Orange juice or coffee was complimentary and the juice was delicious and refreshing. We actually came back for lunch that day since there were so many options and we wanted to try more! I got the rueben with fries and my fiancee got the chico melt with fries. Both were delicious and the fries were amazing!

Must stop in Seattle - Edit
Place is great, delicious and hearty breakfast. This will be a staple when visiting Seattle. This place has redeemed Seattle because up until this I have been quite underwhelmed with the Vegan scene here. Phenomenal service as well.

I’m a local and you’re not wrong! We go to Portland for better options. Wayward is definitely one of our gems though. I also highly recommend Rojos when you’re in town 😁

Oh dang! We saw that but didn’t make it there. Will def check it out next time in town. We live a little south of Portland and that’s our local vegan Mecca lol. Cheers and thanks for the comment!

Amazing!! Best Vegan Breakfast!! - Edit
Me and my girlfriend stayed in Seattle for 4 days and came to this restaurant every morning. They have a great staff and the food is impeccable. Out of all the breakfast places I’ve been to(LA, NYC,etc.) this is by far the the best experience I have had.

Delicious brunch 🧇 - Edit
The food was sooo good! Got to try the French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, chicken and waffles. Everything was great. However, the service was pretty disorganized. They forgot about our drink order and we did need to get our own utensils.

They weren't able to confirm if they had sugar that was refined without bone char because the chef was away, but would be great to know. Fully vegan place otherwise!

Scrumptious In Seattle - Edit
Stopped by on my way to the airport. Such a wonderful experience. The staff was welcoming and the food was delicious. Just devoured the breakfast burrito at my gate and it was amazing! The home fries were lovely too. Enjoyed the colorful addition of peppers. If you are in Seattle visit Wayward Vegan!

Best breakfast - Edit
Both the pancake combo and Mexican burrito were delicious and the portions were very generous. The atmosphere was very cozy with 50s tunes, a video of parrots playing in the background, and a colorful animal mural. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town. Milton was a great server and made sure we had everything we needed for a fantastic meal!

Amazing Brunch with Amazing Fries - Edit
Wayward Vegan had been closed for dine-in for nearly three years and I haven't had the heart to visit unless it was to eat there since visiting Seattle. Finally their dining room has reopened and it was worth the wait.
Read moreThis is one of the BEST vegan restaurants in town and one where anyone can really enjoy, especially if they like some comfort food.
From classic brunch items to burgers, this place really has it all. My partner and I split the 3-stack Pancakes special with vegan sausage and egg, and he got the California Crunch Wrap with them fries. I selected the choc chip pancakes and they were so chocolatey and fluffy that it was hard to finish! Generous portions all around and worth sharing. The vegan sausage wasn't anything exciting but everything else was top notch.
The fries... we MUST talk about the spuds. Some of the best I've had. Get a basket if your meal doesn't already come with a batch. The wrap itself was massive and delicious too.
If you're able to get a seat on the top floor, definitely do so. The views from above are nice to people watch while enjoying your food.
I am ready to come back here whenever because they are just so good. Definitely visit if you're in town.

Update 2024: This review was for the Wayward before ownership changed. I have not been to the new Wayward.
Read moreWayward is one of a few reasons why I would ever hesitate to move out of Seattle. It's just really nice to have a casual diner-style place to go for Sunday morning breaksfast and a bottomless cup o' joe. Not everything I've tried here has been good. I've had better luck with breakfast and lunch than with their dinner plates. But they have so many different items on the menu (all available all hours) that it's easy to find several items you like and always go back to. I have been going to Wayward since it was in its first grungy little location, and it just keeps improving.

Not what it used to be - Edit
I’ve been coming here for years every time I’m in Seattle. Over the years it’s gone through new ownership and the food has gone downhill. They’ve kept some favorites on the menu but the food is entirely different. For example, the Mac Daddy used to be my favorite burger ever. I ordered it today and it was the most bland, disappointing, overpriced burger I’ve ever had. It really makes me sad. Please pull it from the menu because it is nothing like what it used to be.
Read moreUnderstandably the prices have increased due to rising costs and inflation, but the quality has decreased. I wish I could say I just came on a bad day, but it’s been this way for the past two years at least. I think I’ll wait a few years before I give it another shot.
If you’re looking for an all-vegan diner with fast, friendly service, this place is it. They can accommodate most dietary restrictions as you’d expect. Staff is very friendly and kind and I’m sure the owners are as well. I hate to leave a negative review and I genuinely hope things work out for them. I just can’t bring myself to recommend them at this time.

So happy I decided to try Wayward. I ordered delivery and the food was still warm on arrival. A bit pricey but the portions make it worthwhile. I was soo excited to see fried artichokes on the menu - I haven't had them in four years and they were * perfect *.
Read moreThe ingredients were fresh across the board including in the Sunshine Omlette, but I think it would've been completed with a bit of salt and pepper. I'm in a hotel so I didn't have access, but I imagine it'd be perfect if you did! The tempeh is a bit mild in flavor but so nice.
Pros: Beautiful food made with care!, Chipotle ranch is a yes, Large portions
Cons: Needs a bit of seasoning

Brunch of the Champions - Edit
Stopped there for lunch with a couple of friends who recommended this place. They had so many good choices, and I decided to get something for brunch. I ordered their pancake combo. I loved their tempeh, but I can’t say much for the Just egg which always taste plain. The pancakes were excellent. Who would have thought that pancakes without eggs would taste just right? The restaurant was packed, and I can see why this one is so popular. Easy to get to from I-5 and there’s plenty of nearby parking which is a bonus for big city like Seattle. I’ll return at some point for other meal options. Highly recommended!

Tasty brunch! - Edit
I got the French toast combo along with popcorn chiggen and tempeh bacon, and some coffee. The coffee was classic diner-style, and the 'eggs' were shockingly similar to traditional diner-style scramble. I loved every part of the meal, although do note that the tempeh bacon is very thick and more like regular seasoned tempeh than something like thin chewy strips. (Still very delicious though!) The whole table liked sharing the chiggen- great finger food to share. Service was very nice and it was a great time.😄(PS: There is a great park nearby- was fun to go for a walk and then fuel back up here!)

I love the Mac attack, the pastas are good and heavy, the sandwiches are great (though some are a bit small). Very dependable and super good. Breakfast is amazing except I don’t really like the tofu scramble because it’s curried.
