Better than expected

So many labelled options such as vegan burgers, vegan Thai food, vegan sushi, green bowls etc. I expected it to be average but I was pleasantly surprised.

Pros: Variety

Cons: Price

One solid option

Asian Lab for the win, but it’s a low bar. It’s located at the back right of the market and offers gyoza and pad Thai, albeit not very flavorful. But why aren’t there many more options throughout the stalls? Also, there’s zero air flow so it’s quite warm inside.

Pros: Plenty of liquor options

Cons: Needs more vegan options, No fans or air conditioning

Not impressed

Very limited options if vegan at all. Burgers maybe. A few dishes adulterated with eggs or dairy.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: No vegan outlets, Very limited options, Needn’t adulterate dishes that could be vegan.

Susana Felicidade

Propone ottime opzioni vegane (un risotto e un burger) all'interno di un ambiente vivo come quello del Time Out. Lo consiglio a chi vuole godersi un'atmosfera caratteristica con la possibiltà di gustare piatti diversi in compagnia.

Better than 2015!

Came here to the Time Out Market after 9 years without high hopes but there are indeed vegan options now! I went for something light - dumplings from Asian Lab - and it was a great little snack. Would have been nice to have more options but we take what we can get when we're travelling with non vegans eh?!

Pros: Great presentation

Cons: Loooong queue

Not many vegan options

There are much nicer places in Lisbon for vegans and vegetarians, so don't waste your time in this one trying to find food.

Not lots of options

The atmosphere is very nice, if you want to have a beer or cocktail, but the food vendors offer mostly meat and fish. It is also pretty expensive. My boyfriend also got food poisoning from a clam rice so...

Option for a mixed group of vegan / meat eaters

We opted for the Time Out market when travelling with a group with mixed diets. There are enough vegan options to get by, and I really enjoyed the pad Thai and gyoza. Obviously way better vegan choices in the city…

I tried Susana Felicidade vegan dish and wow

I tried her creamy chickpea rice with sweet potato 🍠 and lemon, it was delicious! Fresh, yet earthy and cozy (perfect for Lisbon’s weather).
Such a pity that it’s the only vegan dish and one of the few options in the all time out market.

Pros: Fast service

Poor vegan choices

The choices for vegans are really only a few here. We went two rounds but nothing really looked or sounded too good. At the end I tried one vegan croquette with Curry which was okay-ish.
Honestly really not recommendable for vegans in Lisbon which is a bit of a shame for this big food market.

don't feel like going again

the whole place is cool to look at and probably nice for vegetarians. but we walked 2 whole rounds and had trouble finding vegan options, maybe they were just not that clearly visible. ended up ordering at Confraria where we had gyoza and maki which was really good! but i personally wouldn't bother going again.

Pros: lots of different food

Cons: busy and loud

Unlucky?

Was very optimistic, but besides the fact that it's a super cool street food heaven inside we were left mega disappointed. The vegan croquettes are fab (especially with the chilli sauce!), they get my two stars, and there's a couple of smaller options like dumplings/gyoza and a basic sushi roll or two, there's actually a massive lacking of vegan options.

We enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere though, until one stallholder was damn right rude to me when I asked if anything could be veganised in the veggie selection. Her colleague was suggesting what could be offered and she instantly and rudely shut him down, told me that they don't do vegan food at all, and when I said thank you, her reply was "don't thank me" with an unpleasant sneer and zero eye contact. The intent behind the one-liner was very clear. She then proceeded to argue with her colleague after I left.

Whether you're fed up or vegan inquiries or not, it costs nothing to be pleasant. Customers pay your bills. Won't return.

Pros: Atmosphere and buzz, Croquettes

Cons: Very little vegan food , Most stalls no vegan option , Some rude staff

Better than expected

Based on the reviews on Happy Cow, I was expecting there to be virtually nothing vegan, but I found that quite a few places had a vegan option (or at least a veggie option that seemed veganizable). I got the burger from Vincent Farges and it was really delicious. Much more than just a fake meat burger you could get anywhere. It came with really tasty vegetables in the bun and the fries had a really interesting sauce.

Pros: More vegan options than expected, Delicious burger at Vincent Farges

Cons: No vegan options at many stalls

Pros: Sehr teuer., (Fast) keine Veganen Optionen. , Sehr voll und überlaufen.

Vincent Farges -- vegan options

I saw others say few vegan options but I saw several. I ended up going with the quinoa salad and panisse frito (chickpea fries) at Vincent Farges stall. They both tasted nice, especially the fries. The chickpea fries were served with a mayo sauce. I asked if it was REALLY vegan, because it seemed mayo based, and was told twice it was, so I guess it is vegan mayo.

Pros: Tasty chickpea fries

Cons: Pretty expensive -- 12.50 salad, 5.50 fries

Don't bother if you're hungry

When we were there, we found exactly three vegan meals: dumplings, croquettes and an artichoque soup. So no.

Never heard of gluten free

Guy at Vincent Farges said he "never met someone with a what allergy". I waited on line for that. He said what want even on his allergens reference.

Poke bowl at confraria is simple but good.

Looks like there's curry at Asian Lab too. So it'll be fine.

Asian Lab

I tried the Vegan Dumplings from Asian Lab, although it was a small serving they were really tasty & I would recommend. Time Out Market didn’t have many other vegan options that I could find.

AVOID IF VEGAN

I wouldn’t bother if you are vegan.
I visited on a Tuesday night (unsure of time/day effects offering).
A few places offer vegan - however 99% of their menu is meat and fish. I didn’t come across any stall where they could guarantee any non cross contamination, even with fries. Just bare that in mind.
Only one vegan wine available from the centre offerings.
Very very very experience for vegan or meat eaters - just a fad a personally think. Very expensive to feel like you are back in school with collecting your tray and taking it to your table, and having to clean up after yourself.
Find a small business elsewhere to support. I wonder how much cut Time Out is taking…

Pros: Your meat eater friends with money may love it

Cons: Expensive for the set up, Not guaranteed to be fully vegan , Only a few typical options

Limited

I struggled to find any food options. It’s a bit of a tourist trap so can be busy, making it hard to find things. Lots of great places within a short distance.
Okay for a drink.

Vincent Farges - fine but not my first choice

We came here as it was recommended by a lot of travel guides but I found the market incredibly overwhelming and there were scarce (obvious) vegan options. I believe we ate at Vincent Farges, and it was alright, but it doesn't compare to the other vegan food I tried in Lisbon. The veggie burger was pretty good, but the polenta fries were plain and oily.

Best place to eat with a non-vegan.

Lisbon has a huge amount of vegan restaurants but when travelling with a non vegan there is hardly any choice if you want to eat together. My travel companion was not big on veg so until we found the time-out market we would have to eat in two sitting one i a vegan restaurant and once in a non -vegan place.

Non-vegan places would try and surgery vegetarian food to try and get you to eat telling me mushroom stuffed with cheese is okay-they had little understanding of what vegan meant and it seems to be against the cultural norm to adapt the food by removing the cheese.

Not the best as limited vegan options but if I am eating with omni friend it seems the only real option. Personally I would prefer a vegan only place as there is more option.

Pros: Lots of options, Can eat with non vegans , Reasonable prices
